Tell me it's ok that I slacked off

This morning I half-assed my workout. I typically do a bodyweight session 3 mornings a week and a running session the other 3 mornings with one complete rest day. My smoke alarm went off at 3am, and it took me an hour to settle back down. Then I'm up at 5 to workout. My knee was a little sore too, so I eliminated the part of my routine that is most likely to make my knees sore. Usually when I start to slack off, one thing leads to another, and before I know it I'm not working out at all. Help me convince myself that I haven't gotten completely off the wagon, lol.

You're good. Do you incorporate rest days into your week? Your body needs rest from the workouts. Count this as a rest day, and get back to it tomorrow. Having some flexibility is important to success.

Well, it wasn't a total rest, because I did still get up and worked out. I just didn't put 100% in. Sunday is my total rest day.

It's good to listen to your body, sounds like you needed to take it easy today....tomorrow you'll hopefully be ready to kick some *kitten* again

Don't think of it as slacking off, think of it as you could easily have made an excuse to not go at all but you still got up and did something! That's great!! Now just kick even more butt tomorrow!

I skipped my workout this morning because my shoulder and neck hurt pretty bad. I think I slept weird, not sure. Anyway, I was beating myself up about it earlier but then I told myself that I'm just going to make sure I stick to my healthy foods today and I'll go for a walk at lunch. If I can tell myself tonight that I had a good day outside of not working out, I think I'll be more likely to get back at it tomorrow.

I was gonna push it off till after work, but then I remembered I had to go to my mom's and give one of her friend's daughters a ride in my pony and cart.

Life happens. We have to be flexible to take the punches and move on. You did a great job by not skipping your workout all together.

It is important to listen to your body. If your knee was bothering you there is nothing wrong with taking it easy on your knee for a day or two. And sleep is just as important to overall health as exercise. If your sleep was interrupted then it is natural that you weren't feeling 100% today. Just shake it off and get back to it tomorrow. Plus as others have pointed out, you could have skipped altogether today, but you didn't. 75% is much better than 0%.

Why would missing one day for the reasons you state mean that you'll never work out again? Think about it! What would you tell someone else who said the sane thing?

It's just what has happened in the past. I take an easy day, then skip a day, then get discouraged and slowly quit.

You have permission to slack off a day. Enjoy it! See you back tomorrow. :)

A day happens here & there. Keep it to one day, then get back at it the next day. I've kept a journal for 2 1/2 years of various aspects of my journey. I write down the type of workout I do each day & any new accomplishments. It is a subtle way to keep me motivated, because I don't want too many empty days. I also love looking back to see my accomplishments a month ago or a year ago. Seeing the progress in the past keeps me going!
