hello everyone, how long do you all workout for in the day? how long is best ?

    To answer your question we first need to know what your goals are - why are you exercising and what do you want as a result from your exercising? Also, what types of exercise are you doing?

    im 11 stone 9 164 pounds wanting to get to around 8 stone 9 im excersizing because i like it and also for a healthier lifestyle and also to help me burn calories weight loss with my healthy eating lol why else would anyone excersize?

    i do workout videos on youtube anything from aerobics dance to pump fitness and cardio workouts

    I do cardio (exercise bike at our apartment gym) for 35-45 mins every day

    1. Be better at a sport
    2. Prevent depression
    3. Because of bulking
    4. Because of slimming
    5. Because they have the hots for the cute person at the gym
    6. Because they like hanging out with their friends at yoga
    7. Because their doctor told them to
    8. Because of a bet with friends
    9. And tons of other reasons

    I don't think there is a "best" or "ideal" type or duration of workout. Depends on your goals. I get in a workout about 4 times a week, and what and how long tends to depend on what fits into my schedule. I get to kickboxing once or twice a week - that's 45 minutes and it's kind of a cardio/HIIT workout. I wasn't trying to build muscle, but it's happening, and I freaking love it. And I run about twice a week, and that's 20-30 minutes, give or take (again, depending on how much time I have, what the weather is like, etc., I may do a quick 20-minute/2-mile interval or hills run, or I may do a full 3-mile run). The running is for my mental health as much as physical.

    I've been adding in some simple strength training with bodyweight only to improve muscle. I'm really not trying to lose weight, or not much, I just want to tighten everything up. Given my goals, I should probably lift, I just don't like to.

    This works for ME. May not work for you. If you're looking to lose weight and improve overall fitness, you could probably do a lot less than I do (while staying in a calorie deficit) and honestly, do what you LIKE to do, because that's the only way it'll actually make a lifestyle change.

    I dont workout to lose weight. I lift and sometimes do cardio to fight off the effects of old age. I am 35 currently.

    Working out to lose weight is a dangerous in my eyes because once you lose the weight, you will stop.

    accutally not all people stop excersizing when you loose weight its a lifestyle change so therefore it needs to carry on even when you have lost the weight

    "Old" is a relative term. I've been a regular member at a gym since I was 28 or 29. I am now 61. I try to get in 2 full-body workouts a week. That might mean I am there 2 nights, but more often it means I am there 3 or 4. I also do 30 min of cardio/ or walk for an hour, 5 days a week, and try to have some decent activity on the weekends. I do this to stay as healthy, fit, and strong as I can, so that as I get older, I am less impacted by physical decline. I want to enjoy my time on this earth as much as I can, and I would prefer not to enjoy it from a bed.

    I do cardio for at least an hour 5 times a week alternating HIIT and steady, but that's because I'm training for an athletic event. Normally I'd do cardio 3 times a week. Hopefully I haven't traded off core strength for speed by upping the cardio and not doing much strength/resistance training for this... Bottom line: It's all trial and error. In my case lots of error before I got it right, and sometimes I'm still not sure...

    My only exercise is walking, fast pace. I average between 2-3 hours everyday.

    I don't really work out. I occasionally walk (in between surgeries), because I know cardio is good for you! Cardio is great for overall health, and if you don't like walking or it isn't an option there are lots of videos online. I like the HasFit youtube ones as they provide options in a lot of their video for beginner forms and more advanced.

    I'm 37, apparently I'm too far gone. :lol: Only working out to lose weight may cause this, that's why when people ask what's the best way to lose weight a lot of responses are "eat at a calorie deficit".
