Your calories are set after taking your age, height, weight, sex, activity level, weekly weight loss target etc in to consideration.... It is an individual number.
Have you tried changing your goal to 0.5lb a week? It will likely give you more calories - whilst loss will be slower, it might be more sustainable for you.1 -

This. A pound a week is good too, but at your age and height it may still only give you 1200.0 -

Unfortunately you may have to, depending on your stats - if you can't do more, sometimes eating less than you'd like is necessary.
You can maximise your intake by making smart choices though - sufficient protein, which will help keep you full, fats, and if you pick the right carb sources an awful lot of food!0 -
Try 1400. Log it all every day for a month and see how you do. You will find 1400 hard, too. You probably find being overweight hard as well.

Hi, Crystal479. I am 67 years old and have my calories set at 1450. I also have my weightloss set to lose .5 per week. I am like you, 1200 calories is too low for me. I still lose weight at the 1450, just not real fast.0

MFP is designed for you to eat back your exercise calories (or at least some of them) so maybe the answer is adding in some walking or water aerobics or exercise of your choice to increase how much you can eat. For me, also eating 1200 cals most days (34 yr old 5'0 143.4 lbs) I eat a lot of low calorie foods so that I can eat more. If I ate really high calorie foods I would be hungry all the time. I eat veggies with lunch and dinner and l snack on a pc of fruit sometimes when I'm hungry with yogurt. I don't eat 'clean' but you're welcome to look at my food diary.0
