It's so hard because wine has so many calories

I still have a couple of beers on the weekend. Just walk a bit more to offset extra calories. Some days I walk more than others:):)6

I do. I lose weight A LOT slower than if i didn't drink. But i would rather lose weight slowly and drink than to stop drinking and lose fast but end up murdering someone.14

I'll have a beer or two here and there; I build it into my calorie allowance.1
-
I do occasionally, and have lost 80 lbs. I love wine and would never give it up completely unless I had health issues.2
-
I usually only drink when I go out. I tend to have wine or sometimes I order light beer or vodka and cranberry. I tend to normally go the gym before I go out and burn alot of calories. You can have a drink and just have fun. You can always go the gym the next day and work out.1

Yeah, I don't drink any more. It was hard to fit it in, and I made poor choices when I drank - including poor food choices.
Alcohol is a slippery slope. I think if you are having it only on the weekends and in moderation it's easy to fit it in.
When a woman is drinking more than one 5-ounce glass of wine a day or drinking more than a couple times a week, maybe the problem is bigger than calories. There is an upper limit on "moderate" drinking.
It's a special occasion food, not a daily supplement. Like hot fudge sundaes.8 -

Me! I measure out 4 oz. of wine several nights per week.3

I'm a casual drinker about once or twice every 2 weeks. I enjoy my 5 oz red or white wine with dinner. Some weeks I make an acoholic drink with either 1oz of pinneaple ciroc or Jamaican white rum. It fits in my calories and I also don't exceed the recommended alcohol consumption for women under 65. Win-win0

How much wine are you drinking? And how often? Mine was 69 calories last Sunday.
I usually only drink alcoholic drinks once per week, and have skipped many weeks since I've been on MFP, but I don't find the calorie count to be so high really.2 -
i make sacrifices elsewhere when i know im going to drink. i will sacrifice nutrients for booze. LOLOLOL3

Me!
I enjoy a glass of wine or a G&T (and a cold beer in the summer in the garden, or a nice glass or two of bubbles when the sun is shining, or a fru-fru cocktail on a cruise ship) and would have found losing weight and not being able to have one or the other a couple of times a week over restrictive.
Get your nutrition in first and save a few calories for a drink if you enjoy it.

I have a few drinks every other weekend when visiting my friend out of town. I usually fit it into my calories or I just take a break and eat maitnence calories for weekend1

Why ever would I stop?1

a good way to make up the calories0

Just good strategy if you drink: Don't do it before bed. Alcohol HAS to be metabolized since it cannot be stored in the body. While being metabolized, NO OTHER ENERGY SOURCE is being used. Since the majority of BODY FAT is lost when you sleep, drinking alcohol before bed will inhibit this from happening.

I have seriously cut back. I used to fit many alcoholic beverages into my calorie limits months before, but my weight loss was so slow. Now that I've cut back a lot, my weight loss has increased.2
-
Have lost 90lbs in six months while drinking ~16 beers each Saturday. Wouldn't walk a mile for a Camel but do walk 100 for a case of Bud Light.4
-
I really only drink 1 day, saturdays, and have anywhere from 1-4 drinks. Hasn't hindered me at all.1
-
The older I get the harder is for me to deal with alcohol to the point that I don't enjoy wine or champagne as much as I used to.
I am in maintenance so a glass of wine here and there doesn't affect my weight at all, but it does affect my stomach a lot so booze is not something that I drink very often. Maybe a couple of times a month or for very special occasions (usually follow by a Zantac).2 -
I stopped when I started my weight loss journey as I decided that the calories weren't worth it.
I'm now on medication that prohibits alcohol anyway.
I don't miss it at all.2 -
I don't drink, if I did it would be hard to fit those calories in I think.1

How many hours prior to sleep is considered "before bed"?3 -
Dieting- I drank occasionally while fitting in calories. But on Fitness: I very rarely drink as my alcohol tolerance is tremendously low now. I would rather eat!0

I drank 10 low carb beers on Saturday. I did intermittent fasting, ate a big protein packed dinner, walked for an hour and a bit for extra calories, and ate wen I got home. I was still at my calorie allowance for the day. I also "banked" calories during the week. I indulged and planned for it.0

I've seen so many times, on these forums, it doesn't matter what time u eat. As long as you're under calorie. Alcohol is part of calorie counting. So if I drank an hr before bed, or ate an hour before bed, is this hindering my progress?0
