Motivation is my biggest area in need of help. A plan that gets me there with the exercise/work/family balance that isn't sooo difficult that it makes me give up before I begin

What kind of motivation do you feel works best for you? Motivation sayings, daily check ins and accountability, venting???

I really don't know. Just starting out. Looking for ideas. Maybe an accountability buddy?

First of all, set your goal(s).

The best accountability buddy I've found here is the food diary. By this time of the afternoon, it either affirms that I'm doing it right by having logged accurately my breakfast and lunch, or it accuses bitterly that I've been a sloppy logger with empty spaces.

So how much time do you have for exercise? Look at ways you can incorporate exercise into work and family time?

Great job deciding to start! I suggest starting with just two small, measurable, attainable food related goals.

My first two goals when starting were:

    1) Enter everything you eat into the MFP Diary with absolute honesty for seven days just to give yourself a baseline and some insight into areas you can improve.

    2) Eat one veggie plus one fruit with your lunch for 7 days.

I'm a big believer in how small changes add up and more easily become sustainable healthy lifestyle changes. Be sure to let us know how your first week goes - good or bad, no judgement here.

Take walks with your family? Many prophecies get started like this.

Add me. I can give you some ideas on a workout plan that not hard to stick to.
