Dry mouth?

I've been eating brown rice and grilled chicken on a daily basis and have recently started having really bad dry mouth while eating. Does anyone else have this problem? If so, what solution helped overcome it, besides the obvious answer to stop eating rice and chicken

Have you tried drinking water alongside your rice and chicken?

This. I used to eat a lot of grilled/pan fried foods and I noticed my lips getting dry for a bit. I increased water intake and it helped.

I normally drink 16 ounces of water along with my meal, but it doesn't seem to help

It's usually a sign of dehydration. If you're salting the chicken or using spice rubs along with seasoning the rice that's added sodium which will make it worse. Take a good look at how much you are drinking on a daily basis. It might not be enough.

I'll look into that and adjust my water intake as needed

only things that made my mouth dry have been anaemia and sjogren's syndrome. anaemia makes your tongue feel like a wrung-out dishcloth, and sjogrens makes it feel like a dishcloth that's never had water near it.

both are 'real' health issues, of course. so if the suggestions here don't help and it persists or becomes really bothersome, might be worth mentioning to a doctor. with sjogrens' your salivary glands actually stop working and it can do nasty things to your teeth over time.

If I'm eating, or thinking of eating, a food I dislike or am tired of this happens to me. No amount of water will wash it down and I end up spitting the food out and finding something more appetizing. Try mixing your food options up a bit and see if that helps.

I added barbecue sauce to my chicken and it seems to help. Thanks for all the replies

Taking any meds? Just asking because some can dry you out.
