So I just had a come to Jesus meeting with my Dr... 40 years old, 285lbs and early signs of hypertension. I'm about a week in of trying to change my diet, low sodium/high potassium and a personal goal of about 215lbs. My Dr gave me a goal of 2,000 cal diet but I'm having a tough time getting there without drinking a bomber of double IPA at the end of the day.

sounds right. the 7th was my last beer so far. 19 days is a biggie for me in my old age. but with a 2k calorie diet, beer is just too fattening. and lets face it, this gut didn't get here itself. good luck man.0

Tank_Top Are you saying that you're having difficulty consuming 2,000 calories a day? If so, do you mind opening up your diary so we can see what you've logged? I'm at 1800 calories a day and it's very easy for me to consume this.
Also I need to go lower sodium, so I would absolutely love to see things you pick too. Sending you a friend request...

So looking back a couple days - it doesn't look like you're doing that bad? Even you subtract the IPA you're right at calorie goal on Thursday & Friday (minus exercise calories on Friday) and Saturday it's possible that you just had a lot of protein (maybe more than you're used to) and that you weren't as hungry.
Are you adding everything? I notice you're eating chicken breasts, but I don't see any type of seasonings with it. And yesterday the asparagus you logged...I probably wouldn't have logged it like that. I would log the asparagus itself, plus the olive oil plus the salt or seasonings.0 -

The only seasoning I'm adding is dry seasoning, parsley garlic powder onion powder etc. but very small amounts0 -

I guess I don't understand what your question is then. Because looking at your logs, it looks like getting to 2k (even without IPA) isn't a huge problem. Yesterday you were close - but not quite there. It's okay to be a little under your goal. A deficit is a deficit. What kind of stuff were you eating before?0
