I tried to use this site 8 yrs ago, I kinda used the calorie counter, but I was afraid to use the "community" settings because I was going thru severe mental health problems and was afraid to share. I still am. I did lose some weight 230 to 213 but then just sat there (I'm 5'4") As life closed in I left this site. 3 years ago I developed intestinal issues (severe stress) and I dropped 50 lbs I basically just stopped eating. Everyone commented and husband was oohoo and I felt good with all the compliments. But in the last year I have gained back 30 of those lbs and I am scared it will all come back. So this time I am hoping I can get encouragement.

Welcome back! I've been through this rodeo a few times, you're not alone :) Many people try more than once, and the community is always there to help with whatever stage you're at.

thanks people I already feel better seeing that there are real people out there that have similar issues. My eating issue, eating after 7pm. Great all day then Boom- pork out right up till bedtime - anyway to get control of this?

I work low-calorie snacks in. String cheese, veggie dogs, popcorn. There's nothing wrong with eating after 7PM; just leave some calories over for it. (Fruit and veggies are good too. I just have a salt tooth.)

If you love to eat a lot of food, eating clean is great. You can get soooo much food for so little calories with vegetables. I'm fortunate enough to love peas and broccoli though, haha.

If your problem is craving junk at night, try lessening the amount you eat. Be aware of the differences in emotional hunger (need to eat NOW) vs physical hunger (which is very patient). Treat yourself occasionally, but this is a habit that just needs to be broken via willpower, or slowly reducing the amounts.

If your problem is boredom, chew lots of gum whenever you find yourself wanting to snack. This helped me!

What helped me was pre-planning meals and serving sizes, and pre logging to make sure I did not over eat. After two weeks of doing this, I've gained much more self control. I've actually completely cut snacking out of my diet for a month now, and most days my calories come from two large meals.

But yeah, if you pig out until bedtime, that's probably boredom eating. Chew gum instead. Schedule certain late night treats for certain days. Good luck, you can do this <3

thanks for the advice Jirachii, I do think my evening eating is boredom and comfort. Also emotional.I am alone alot and unless I have a "project" I walk back and forth between the TV and kitchen. Last night I was craving chocolate cookies or brownies, I don't keep them in the house. BUT unfortunately I am a very good cook -bingo I had homemade brownies. Today I have been doing great - lots of fruit and vegies.. and stuffed peppers for dinner. But here it is 8 at night -I haven't snacked yet and I hope that by writing this down, and admitting my weakness, I will conquer snack time -at least for tonight
