Water weight

I retain an insane amount of water. I have always read that 2-5 pounds is normal.
During the week I am great about my water intake (Probably about a gallon a day). On the weekends I am usually too busy to drink that much and that gets cut in half or less.
I ALWAYS see a gain on Monday. Not just up to 5 pounds. Up to 10 pounds (once it was even 11!) That weight is usually gone by Wednesday or Thursday.

For example, on Saturday I weighed 208.2 and this morning I weighed 217.2. I have always been this way but it has gotten worse since I had my son in 2014.

My question is whether or not this is something I should be concerned about? Am I just a little weird or is this something that I need to bring up with the doc?

10 lbs is within the standard deviation for this sort of thing, unfortunately. :( (And I thought my inexplicable five-pound gains were bad...) If you're very concerned I'd bring it up with your doctor during your next check-up, but wouldn't make a special appointment for it. Drinking lots of water, avoiding salt and losing weight will help the window of fluctuation shrink, but by how much is something I can't tell you...it's an individual thing. (My worst swings are usually 2 lbs these days; they used to be 5.) Good luck!

I would certainly bring it up with your doctor--that seems a bit much. Do you watch your sodium intake? I know when I've eaten a lot of salty foods that it shows up on the scale.

@cjhinesy I don't watch my sodium intake closely. I don't during the week either...
This happens every single weekend. I have not yet noticed it being worse after certain foods but that doesn't mean thats not happening.
