Hello all!
I messed around on MFP a while back. Now, however, I am committed to lose 100-120 pounds as of July 12. Down 14 from initial, but 7 since starting this time around. Would be great to meet more people so we can encourage one another on our journeys. I am a 32 year old mom of three. My daughters are 20 and 8 and my son is 5. Adopted a sibling set (will be 4 years ago come October). I am a special education teacher and teach students with autism. If you want to know more, just ask. This journey isn't about me, but about one another. Good luck on your journeys! Look forward to hearing from you soon. :)

Welcome. 100lbs is a real commitment, and you can do it! We have some things in common. My 14 yr old adopted son has Asperger's and I am an attachment therapist. We both live and work the content of our lives. Friend me if you want and I will be your cheerleader. Ce

Welcome aboard!!! I live in Minnesota also. I love my fitness pal. I have been working to loose 60 lbs for 4 1/2 years (ended up having two kids thrown into that journey). I am down to my last 9 lbs. My fitness pal has helped me lose 20 lbs this year since I joined in Jan. I find monitoring my calories in and calories out the biggest help with weight loss. Good for you for starting this journey!!!!!!!!!!!! Best wishes to you :o)

    Excellent start on your goals!

I am in the Cities (Cottage Grove). I don't think that I will move out of MN ever again (I lived in Nevada for 11 years). Love it here!!

what does an attachment therapist do exactly? Do you work with attachment issues specifically?

I treat families raising children with attachment challenges and complex trauma due to birth injuries, adoption, child abuse and neglect in infancy and childhood, and breaches in parent/child bond zero to 2 years old. I also use attachment theory to treat couples who are struggling with maintaining an attachment relationship in their partnership. Attachment Specialists are difficult to find, so I am one of only three in the city in which I live. Attachment challenged children are difficult to understand and families need a lot of therapeutic support to maintain a loving relationship in order to heal their attachment wounds. Most therapists do not want to work with such labor intensive families, so that is why there are only a few of us around. Probably more than you wanted to know.
