Hey there. I am 47 years old and working Mom of 2. Life has ups and downs and I am on an up. Struggle with autoimmune disorders for 14 years. Through research, advice, therapy and nutritional counseling by people who understand I am living a happier life and healthier life. In total remission from Crohn's disease and have been off of steroids for 2 years now after 12 years of Prednisone and medications I am off all meds for that disorder. Now the weight loss struggle has begun. After 14 years of being 45 pounds overweight I am working out every day and learning to eat the right way. I am still struggling and trying to figure it out. Looking for women (and men) who have had similar battle and have won or are winning. Positive energy needed. This can be done with a little help from my friends.

You can do it! Just remember: Progress, not perfection.

I have auto immune disorders too, I refuse to be on medication though. I guess I'd rather try to help/solve body issues with natural things, because Rx medications caused me more symptoms and side effects. I struggle with pain every day, and so I know its hard to convince yourself to move, exercise, and eat right. But those things also are what help me deal with the pain, so I'm hurting in a different way I suppose. :) Most important for me is not to get the "victim" mentality. To just keep going, taking each day as a new one. Positive energy is definitely a good thing to give and receive. I have Mixed Connective Tissue Disorder. Which is basically Lupus and arthritis and a bunch of other annoying things. But I try to keep it as just that. An annoyance, not a hindrance. Every day is so precious. Add me if you like.

PS - drink lots of water, helps tremendously with inflammation, etc. Let me know if I can be of any help, and feel free to share advice too, message me anytime. Good luck!

Thank you so much for responding. I agree and I am also trying to stay off medications. I had 12 hospitalizations in the past 14 years. I am doing so well here. I just need to get off the 30lbs that is hanging around my middle. I will add you. Thank you for the motivation.

I have had ulcerative colitis since my late teens. Have been on Prednisone half my adult life. My maintenance medication has a side effect of weight gain. Now approaching menopause - more weight issues. Everyone tells me that it's just part of life. I don't feel comfortable in my skin and feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. I'm trying to change my way of thinking, to become more healthy instead of constantly thinking about the weight. I've become more confident of myself since.

Also, IBS, colitis and chrones often times come with a very strict diet, which means many fruits, vegetables and grains/nuts you have to avoid. Those restrictions make it difficult to eat healthy. Hang in there and know that people know and understand what you're going through.
