Berries aren't high in sugar (for fruit). They are the lowest in sugar of all the fruits. What kind of diet are you doing? Are you doing low cal? Low carb?

I don't restrict fruit and one of my favorite treats is those squeeze bags of baby food. They are about 60 cals...

Take a look in the recipes section of the forums, there are lots of diabetic recipes. Berries were on my no list, but generally pairing something a little sugary with protein kept it from getting too high. Nuts, and fresh vegetables (I like carrots and cucumbers, iffy on most others in raw form), hard boiled eggs, seed (like sunflower, pumpkin).

I had to give them up. Jelly beans and jujubes for me. I have a few and I want more.

IMO, we with IR should avoid candy. Perhaps a very small treat if our BG and insulin levels are normal... Without insulin. It sucks but it's my health so I try very hard to stick to it.

I substituted sugarless hard candy. Now having said that the calories aren't really lower and some people worry about the artificial sweetners. They work for me because it takes longer to eat them and they don't make me feel crummy. I limit to 4 or 5 pieces a day at 10 calories each. I've lost 73 pounds and I had a wicked candy habit before starting, in fact I'm sure it was a huge factor in my weight problem and I was borderline diabetic. As my diet changed my tastes have changed and I find I crave salt more often than sugar. Boom Chick a Pop popcorn has become my low cal snack. Good luck.
