Many diet articles mention oats, eggs, etc as good food for dieting but they are high in carbs. When using MFP, these food just kill my carb intake points. Anybody eat these foods for weight loss?

Yep, I eat carbs and have had no trouble losing weight. It's the the overconsumption of calories that kills weight loss efforts.

Weight loss isn't about specific foods, it's about consuming fewer calories than your body uses. How you get there is up to you. You can reduce calorie intake, increase calorie output, or a combo of those. I don't eat any foods that I don't like.

I look at my calorie budget like a money budget. I'm careful about where I spend my calories. I aim for 80% of my calories from nutrient-dense foods (that I like) and 20% from treats. You want to get enough protein, fat, and fiber. The foods you eat are up to you.

A good place to start is to log what you consume now (including drinks and condiments) for a couple of weeks so that you have some data. You can then go back and see where you might eat smaller portions and/or make satisfying substitutions.

Absolutely. I don't have medical issues with regards to carbs - so I lose weight just fine by counting calories.

Weight loss is calories in vs. calories out (CICO)......essentially eat less (food) and move more. It doesn't need to be any more complicated than that (for me).

I do. I don't pay much attention to carbs. I try to hit my protien goal and then let carbs and fats fall wherever they fall. As long as I am staying at my calorie goal then it is all good. If you have a medical reason to limit carbs then you might need to track them, but if not then you can still lose weight and eat carbs.

I don't limit carbohydrates at all, I just make sure I'm meeting my needs for protein and fat. As long as you're at a calorie deficit, you'll lose weight.

I whizz eggs and oats together to make pancakes, even when dieting....

Eggs are a great source of protein, and fat, along with lots of nutrients.

    eggs dont have any carbs?

    Maybe Cadbury?

OP, it's basically how much food that determines weight loss. Not the type.

So I guess oats are out then, huh?

Why are you limiting carbs? I mean, sure, you'll lose weight on low carb if you eat less calories that way, but it's not necessary. Calories are king.
