Hi guys so I'm confused as to how I managed to lose 3lbs I was 2900 calories over my weekly goal of 1400 daily. My net average per day was 1700.

Are you just starting a deficit? How much below your TDEE is 1700 calories?
Weight loss isn't linear and there are variables that can cause ups and downs. Many lose water weight when they start a deficit. If your TDEE is higher than 1700 calories then you were in a deficit. You might have had less salt. You might be somewhere in your cycle where you drop water weight. Any number of things.
Weight loss is about a downward trend over time rather than day-to-day or even week-to-week fluctuations.0 -

I lost 3 pounds overnight and I certainly didn't burn 10,500 calories in my sleep. The conclusion - the scale doesn't tell the entire story (your weight will fluctuate based on sodium intake, water, etc.).
You legitimately are 3lbs less this week than you were last week, but you can be confident that at those calories you didn't lose 3lbs of fat. Likely water weight playing into things.1 -

Some people lose weight in whooshes. This may be that. As I said, look at your general trend over time. Here's a recent 3 month time span for me:

If your tdee really is 2k, eating 1.7k is a deficit and over time you will see a loss.
Water weight moves faster than fat changes, so you are better off looking at weight trends as opposed to occasional weight snap shots that may reflect a higher or lower water weight day.
Trendweight.com, weighgrapher.com, Libra for Android and happy scale for iPhone can all provide you with that info...
Not everyone burns calories exactly as predicted, though it is also extremely common for our accounting to be "off" both when it comes to Calories in and calories out.2
