My MFP app is assigning me more walking steps than I'm getting

I am a total newbie to MFP and I'm trying to get the hang of all the featurea. One thing I've noticed is that it's assigning me more steps than I'm actually getting. For example all I've done is putter around our 2200 sq foot house thus morning and it's already awarding me more than 3000 waking points. I use my I phone to count steps. Can anyone tell me what might be going on here. One reason I chose MFP over other apps it's ability to count steps right from my phione and them seamlessly integrate them into how many calories I get each day. All input welcome as to what the issue is. Thanks! -Katie

Are you saying it's giving you 3000 extra calories or just 3000 steps?

Then again, MFP seems to think you are 101 years old so it could just be saying "eat whatever you want, you've earned it!" (I'm kidding, I'm kidding!)

MFP doesn't assign you steps, do you have an app that is syncing to MFP that is doing that?

Try putting 30 coins in one pocket, then silently count steps while you putter around. For every 100 steps, transfer a coin to the other pocket. I think you might be surprised just how many steps puttering around the house gives you.

I putter around the house a lot and 3000 steps is quite normal. I'm at 2000+, it is 11:30am, and I don't think I have done anything yet.
My phone just sits in my right side cardigan pocket.
Check it every hour for an afternoon or morning and see if you think it is correct.

The calorie award through the iPhone/MFP is very low so if you are looking for something to give you extra calories for a purposeful walk I would install a specific pedometer.

I think map my walk is popular- go to the apps section of your home page, there are a number there that work with MFP and can bs linked to your iPhone health too.

If you have yourself as sedentary in MFP there is about 3500 steps inherent in that activity level.

    Cheers, h.

It's great isn't it? The more you move the more you can eat and still lose weight :)

Try just eating half the calories back at first though in case it is over estimating.
