I'm currently recovering hopefully from a viral infection, though I seem intensely hungry all the time, I thought it's the opposite when your ill? Am I burning more calories fighting a virus?

Did you not eat a lot while you were in the throes of infection?

Probably a good idea to eat at maintenance while recovering. Gives you a bit of leeway for your hunger too.
Yes the body does use a few more calories when healing.
    Cheers, h.

After I start getting better, I tend to be a little more hungry than normal. I would eat at maintenance for a few days to help your body recover, then head back to the salt mines.

Increase calories for a few days. Eat at maintenance or a little above.

Yeah even though you may not be hungry while actually sick, when you are running a fever you are burning extra calories. Eat at maintenance until you're no longer ravenous, then resume the diet.
