I am running my 1st 5k tomorrow and it is forecasted for heavy rain.
Any tips on clothes or strategies to not not get too soaked?
I have to park about 0.5 miles or so from the start and didn't wasn't planning on checking in a bag.
Thanks

I just wear a very light weight waterproof, tie it around your waist when you get too hot.
If your going to run regularly you get used to it.1 -
You're going to get wet. Just embrace it.
If it's also going to be cold, wear layers that won't be useless when wet. Synthetics. Light fleece.
Wear a ball cap or visor to keep the rain off your face. Bring dry clothes and a towel for after.
Enjoy feeling like a bad*kitten* while the rest of the world is hibernating.3 -
You will get wet.
Basically you want clothes that will wick/dry quickly. Getting wet when running isn't such a bad thing, most times I run my feet are wet as I'm running through puddles, but it's good to have shoes that drain quickly.
Waterproofs are no good really as you'll cook inside them with sweat.
If you're not too far from your car, don't worry about a bag, but make sure you have clothes to change into/layer up after and a towel. Take more clothes than you'll think you need as your temperature will drop QUICKLY.
good luck!1 -
I love running in the rain! It can be tough if it's cold out but the actual running part is fun. You want to keep your core temp up without taking too many clothes with you in the race. The walk and standing around before the start probably won't be fun but maybe there'll be less people. I sweat a lot so my clothes don't change much in the rain. It's a 5k, have fun!3

Wear a visor or brimmed hat to keep the rain out of your eyes, otherwise, embrace the rain. Running in the rain is my favorite kind of running.3

Wool socks. Smartwool and Darn Tough are good. Note that the good wool running socks aren't 100% wool, they're a wool/synthetic blend. They won't keep your feet dry, but they will keep your feet warm and prevent blisters you would get with other socks from running in the rain.1

There's going to be some chafing.
There's going to be some blisters.
Bring extra socks and change right after the race.1 -
Thanks everybody! The only advice I won't take is no bra :-)2
