Such an eye opener

I just wanted to say that I can't believe what an eye opener it is to count calories. I used to over-eat a lot on fruit (always thought because it was healthy it didn't really count).

And yesterday I had a lemon loaf from Starbucks thinking it was not such a big deal. Afterwards, I realized it was 500 calories (not including my latte).

Glad I started MFP. :)

The good news is that compared to having a lemon loaf, you could have a donut for fewer calories. Because the hole has no calories.

yes and a few handfuls of Deluxe Mixed Nuts! I need to start reading the calories BEFORE I eat it, not afterwards.

For me it is realizing how many calories are in restaurant meals. We go out about once a week and the totals of a meal that I consider fairly healthy (i.e. salmon, sweet potato and salad) end up really high when you add the bread, tartar sauce and a beer or two. Go someplace Mexican or Italian and it really gets crazy.

Welcome to the world of counting calories. Warning it can be addictive. You will look at calories on almost every food package you comr across

On the other hand, one of the joys of going hell for leather in the gym is that even after entering 50% of my calories (which I do by halving my times), I think that I have some spoonlicking, chilli-tasting, pasta-testing ballast on the calorie front.
