Hey guys and gals! This might have been asked before, but I was wondering how accurate that weight estimate calculator thing is after you complete your diary? Has anyone seen any truth to it?

Do you mean that thing that says "if every day was like today...". I think it is fairly accurate IF you do log every day like that day for 5 weeks. But usually life gets in the way during the 5 weeks so most don't hit that target. I find every month there are one or two days (at least) where I have to travel for work, eat out with family etc where I'm not exercising or eating strictly to plan.

I had the same question, so I'm keeping a spreadsheet and logging actual weight and estimated date based on what MFP provides. Then I will compare it at the end to see how accurate it is.

I ignore it as Runnerbean says there is no way you can repeat that day exactly every day for five weeks.

I use it for motivation and fun. I use my Sunday projection (typically my least active day each week) and put it in my calendar 5 weeks hence. It's fun for me to see, when the 5th week rolls around, how close I came. Usually I'll have beat the projection because it's based on my least advice day. I believe that for me, at least, if every day were really the same, the MFP weight loss projections would be fairly on target.

Great question! I, too, use it just for motivation, but now that I look back, I think its projections were probably near accurate. Like someone else mentioned, i should definitely start keeping a log!
