Neve good to get a surprise like that, but try not to let it derail you. What's done is done, so just move on.

Agreed. Think of it as a learning lesson. This is a journey, full of little lessons like these. :-)

Switch to reduced fat cheese and use canned skim milk instead of cream and you can significantly drop the fat content.

Yeah, that doesn't seem right...a whole stick of butter is under 100g of fat :S

You would be much better off making pasta and using your own cheese to mix in if you have a craving for that kind of thing. Don't forget to mix in some brocoli or something to fill you up.

Thats sounds like velveeta to me. Scary thought: when we are not dieting we would eat two or three cups without even blinking.

It does suck to get those little surprises! Here's a tip- I try to always look up things before I eat them (learned this the hard way, like you). That way I know exactly what I'm getting. It also helps when going to a restaurant because I always seem to underestimate the calories in the dishes. No big deal- just keep going!

I don't even think there's 100 grams of fat in 1 cup of cheese, let alone mixed with mac.... was it homemade? Are you sure you calculated right?

Even the gross Velveeta crud is like 12-13g for a cup. What brand is 100g???

1 cup of cheese barely weighs 100g!

That doesn't sound right at all. Even a full serving of Cracker Barrel's mac and cheese has 26 grams of fat and I'm better that's some of the greasiest mac and cheese around and more than a 1 cup serving, too.

I used an entry yesterday, for something completely different, that had the fat grams set to the total calories. Freaked me out for a minute there. The entries are only as good as the people who enter them and people make mistakes.

1 cup of mac n cheese only has 11g of fat.

    Remember: 1g of fat = 9 calories

I went and got it from the grocery store hot deli. It did not have a nutritional info label. So after lunch, I looked up the MFP database, looked for homemade (from scratch) macaroni and cheese (I assume they make those things from scratch) and came up with that. It was 460 cals I think, which would make sense if all the ingredients used were not the low fat kind. It was member submitted with no confirmation. I used that one because I think it's pretty close in calorie content.

Did anyone else look through the database trying to find this mysterious macaroni and cheese? I did see fried mac and cheese balls from the cheesecake factory, those only had 65 grams of fat (and 1500 calories) for the entire order though.

But if it had 100 grams of fat, it would be over 900 calories (1g of fat =9 calories). So you misread something.

I don't think it is possible to cram 100 grams of fat into one cup on mac and cheese. That can't be anywhere near accurate.

If it was 460 calories, then you know right off the fat content wasn't listed right. 1 gram of fat is 9 calories. If your mac and cheese really had 100 grams of fat, then it would be 900 calories......at a minimum. That's without any protein or carbs.

Sorry, what you found listed just wasn't correct at all.

The consesus then is that the listing is wrong. How do I correct this on my log so it doesn't show such a big number?

Delete it and find a better listing.
