Eating habits with kids

Hi there,

for me it was always easy to control what I eat during the day, doing two low calorie days in a week and exercise regularly. As a mom of an one year old (14 month) I have still problems to get to my before pregnancys eating and workout habits.

For example I can only exercise when he sleeps in the evening - that's after 8pm and I'm already so tired, I can even think about workout.
Don't tell me to workout with him around - I always dreamed of doing it but it's not practicable for me. I go with him for a walk of 2-3 hours a day, but that didn't help with weightlose so far.

And my eating. Don't know. I'm always hungry, probably because I'm still breastfeeding.

Any one out there with the same frustrations?

    Meal prep.

Do you have 1 day a week that someone can help you watch your little one? Take advantage of that day and batch cook/prep meals for the week. The rest of the week everything will be portioned and ready to go.

I have a 3 year old and 4 year old. I have a hard time getting exercise in because I'm so tired chasing them. But I was always starving when I was breastfeeding

I have no kids, so maybe I am not the best person to reply, but I'll try to help anyway :)

I think you should not be bothered now if you have no time for exercise..as a new mom I think you get plenty of exercise through the day.
I think most of the weight comes from food anyway.

What do you usually eat? Is there any space for making your diet better, i.e. more nutritious and less caloric?
    Do you snack a lot?

The only exercise I did for my 1st 20lb loss was pushing my granddaughter in a stroller at the mall for an hour 2x a week while her mom workout at the gym.

Weight loss will be from eating in a calorie deficit. The walking helps of course but I'd maybe tighten up the logging?

You get enough exercise with the walking, maybe, are you pushing a stroller or walking slowly? Maybe try a Paleo-ish diet (low sugar/carb 15%; high healthy fats 40%; high protein 45%) while aiming to also eat a lot of fiber-rich foods to keep you fuller, longer)? You need good fats to help with energy if you are going low sugar / low carb. If you have a blender or food processor you can easily whip up a bunch of low carb veggies and add some lemon juice or apple cider vinegar and some olive oil that can be made in advance and eaten or sipped (add more water) over several days and that might help your lunches make you feel fuller. Breakfast could be a high protein shake with some chia or flax seeds for fat. Dinner could easily be a protein, a low carb vegetable dish (I try to make a carb for my husband sometimes). Do you like peanut butter? Find a no sugar / low salt one and have a tablespoon with some hot tea with milk / half and half. That helps me a lot.
