Hello everyone,
I have a question, does anyone use a good knee brace? I have tried several but they roll down or either pinch. I also use Penetrex cream as well. My left knee tends to ache at some points. Is this normal over the years? Any suggestions appreciated. I'm also making an appointment for orthopedic doctor. Thx

I just use a stretch bandage that I wrap around my knee a few times. Other braces drove me nuts. The correct knee beace for you will depend on your problem though.0

My advice would be wait to see what the diagnosis is first and ask the Doctor for recommendation.
I used a Donjoy articulated knee brace for many years but that was for a ruptured PCL, a very specific brace for a very specific injury (basically my knee slops backwards and forwards especially in lunging movements).
Not a fan of the fabric ones at all.
IMHO a brace should be the last resort for general/unspecific knee problems. Diagnosis, physical therapy and rehab exercises to build the muscles to support the knee would be my preferred option.
Is it normal? Well it's far from unusual.
My knee pain from 3 major and 3 minor knee injuries is vastly reduced from strengthening my legs and losing weight. I'm now 7 years past the predicted date for a TKR.0 -

I use Befit knee strap helps runners knee and in my case meniscus tear.0 -
I wear a knee brace sometimes. I had ACL replacement surgery a few years ago and have a torn meniscus.
That said: Except for those braces with the metal supports that protect the knee against ACL ruptures, and that help prevent your knee from giving way if you have a ruptured ACL, knee braces are thought to provide little actual benefit.
That is not to say, though, that they provide psychological benefit and warmth.
I guess that is what wearing one gives me -- Emotional comfort and some warmth that maybe keeps it loose.
I like the CEP braces. They come in very specific sizes, depending on your calf size and thigh size. They stay in place because they are closely fitted and, at least for me, they do not bind. I have two of them.0 -
i wear compression knee sleeves from EliteFTS when i am squatting and DL only , the compression and warmth really help me. i've also had ACL replacement and meniscus damage repair. i dont wear them for anything but those two exercises. https://www.elitefts.com/elitefts-heavy-knee-sleeve.html1

You really need to get proper brace for your injury per PT.0

Knee pain can be caused by so many different factors, it is best to see a knee specialist to get a proper diagnosis.
I have had MRI scans on both knees, found a few minor problems (calcification, small tears, absess) which added to the extra weight meant swollen and painfull knees if training more than once a week. Switched to a non impact sport (cycling), lost 30lbs and now can do the other stuff without pain (unless I go too hard too often).

I have bad knees and found they all slide down. I have a dozen of them. The best one I found for pain is the ones that have a metal bar down the side. Also strap those puppies down tight!0
