Hi am new here after realizing I gained a little bit of weight. Most of the fat sits in my stomach, and I am trying to see if I should shed some pounds. Any suggestions?
I am 20, 5'8, weight 183 lbs
I just did some measurements and I have
waist: 43
Hips: 44
thigh: 26
neck: 15.5
I know my stomach is kinda big but do the other measurements look alright?
Thank you!!

You are the only one that can decide if you are happy with your measurements. However, your BMI is 27.8, and that indicates that you are overweight. So just going by that, then yes, you need to lose weight.4

Only you can decide if you should lose weight or not.
You are in the over weight category.1 -
I don't think I'm that overweight. My stomach is just big.0

Honestly, we'd need pictures to really know what you're talking about and even then, it's a bunch of strangers. We aren't the ones who need to approve of your body, that's all on you.
You've got to love you.2 -
If you're happy with your weight and aren't interested in reducing calories at this point in time, how about working on another goal? Maybe a fitness one that can help reshape your body? You may want to modify your diet later.
If you like to run/bike/swim, work towards personal bests in time and distance. Maybe aim to be in a race.
If you like exercise classes (cardio, yoga, pilates, etc.), set a goal to attend them 2-3 times a week.
If you like to lift weights (or want to learn how) look into a progressive lifting program to train your body to lift heavier weights as time goes on. Every couple of months, you can reflect on how strong you've gotten!
What you want to do is of course up to you, have fun with it!4 -
You are overweight: ideal range is 125 to 155 lbs
Based on your waist measurement you are at high risk for obesity related disease as your waist circumference is higher than 35 inches.

Just want to emphasize this.
You may have no problems yet, but look to your future, and plan for it now.

OP just to relate, my measurements were very similar to yours when I was 213lbs and I'm 2" taller- I was absolutely very overweight (I've attached a photo so you can see how similar metrics looked on someone else. Please note, I have never been busty even at my biggest
). I also carried a lot of stomach weight and thought that I didn't have much to lose anywhere else. I was wrong and ended up losing in places I didn't even realize were a problem. Weight loss is a funny thing!
Ultimately it is your decision whether or not you are happy where you are. I wasn't so I changed it. Whatever you decide I hope you are able to achieve your goals, whether they be weight loss or weight maintenance, using the tools MFP provides!5 -
BMI-wise, you are at 27.8. Overweight starts at 25 and obese starts at 30. For your health, you should lose weight. Do it now. Don't fritter away your health at such a young age.7

"For your best health, your waist should measure no more than 40 inches for men, 35 inches for women. If it's larger than that, you may want to talk with your doctor about what your next steps are, including losing weight."

Every"body" is different. Do you feel uncomfortable? Are you lacking energy? Would you like to lose weight?0

My clothes feel uncomfortable, but mostly cause my stomach spills over my jeans and makes it impossible to easily pull up my pants. I feel like the extra weight is slowing me down. I used to be around 150 lbs but gained a lot in the last few months due to large life style changes.0

Well you've read the posts that others said I agree with them! However, if you're happy with the way you look like than ...0
