I'm drinking about a gallon a day. Do y'all think water intake has any meaningful impact on weight loss?

My dietitian tells me that if you don't get enough water, you might get sugar cravings.
It took months of work to increase my intake, but now I enjoy it.

I drink between 3 - 5 litres a day depending on temperature and activity. If I don't, I get quite sick as a result of a drug I take (lithium). This same drug can affect the way urine is concentrated by the kidneys, meaning judging hydration by the urine colour is misleading.

Oh, and yes I believe it has a meaningful impact. The liver can do it's job better when you're hydrated.

Roughly 3 litres. More if I'm cycling lots.

If I'm dehydrated, I'm more tired and my feet cramp which kind of puts a damper on exercise.

2-3L of plain water in summer. In winter i struggle finishing a 1.5L bottle. I also drink 5-6 cups of tea and coffee everyday.

Water makes me feel fuller which makes me eat less so by eating less I lose weight.

Aim for 72oz. In winter I allowed tea in the total.

At least 8 cups, unless I'm exercising or it's really hot. Then it's a lot more. I get the "minimum" and after that I just go by thirst.

I think it helps. With a gallon you are good. Just don't drink a lot all at once

I try and drink 128oz per day. I have those 32oz plastic bottles. I keep two full at work and one at home.

Not nearly that much; usually a litre of water or tea plus what I get in food, unless it's really hot so I drink more. I'm still alive and my urine is normal coloured.

5-6 litres plain, about 2 litres of tea and a coffee.

I drink liquids until I am no longer thirsty. It usually comes out to about 2 gallons per day. I think I spend more time peeing than sitting now.

As lizery says, she's on lithium, which you are also, so your water needs are different to the general population. I'd ask your doctor what you need to be aiming for.

Anywhere from 3/4 to a whole gallon or more. I drink based on how I feel. I don't believe in forcing yourself to choke down water.

But, you still need it so if you're barely drinking any then maybe you need to start.

I think it helps in the sense you'll feel less sluggish so you're more likely to workout and push yourself

No it will not affect fat loss. Drink until you are hydrated.

Not nearly enough. I might be able to force myself to drink 1.5 litres a day, but usually not. Coffee however, lots!

About 3 litres a day. I've become so accustommed to it since working in the Middle East a few years back that I get horrible headaches on the odd occasion where I drink a lot less.

100oz is usually as high as I go. In the summer I hit a gallon.

No idea how much but it's enough and not too much.

    No effect on weight loss.

Enough to sink the Titanic. Not to lose weight, but because I am thirsty.

I read of a good research study were it can make a huge impact when it's part of the food rather than drank separately.

If you drink a big glass before eating they said the water volume was already exiting your stomach before you were feeling satiated from the subsequent meal.

In the test, they gave one group a regular meal and the other group had the same meal blended with water. When the water is blended, it stays longer in your stomach and helps satiety. This is why cabbage soup is more filling than an equivalent salad.

So the lesson is, eat more healthy water based soups to aid weightloss.

2 - 2.5 litres a day most days sometimes less, sometimes more

The amount I drink largely depends on how much I exercise and how hot it is outside. If people who drink more lose more weight it is probably because the people who are more active need more water.

It depends and I've never really counted...I drink to stay hydrated and use the color of my urine to determine that.

I drink a lot more water in the summer when I'm sweating buckets just standing around doing nothing...even more when I'm riding in 100* + temps.

I drink 128oz (Gallon) of water each day... I started this because my nutritionist told me to do so when I started on this lifestyle change journey. I don't think it is a magic pill to weight loss, I do think it has a trickle affect... the more you drink the fuller you feel the less you eat. Mind over matter. What I have found, drinking all this water is my skin looks amazing, I feel fuller longer, less fatigue, no more headaches. Now that I have been doing it so long, it has replaced basically every other drink I use to drink because now I crave it.. (except the adult beverages of course ;) and seltzer occasionally) I gave up a serious addiction to Diet Coke, which probably has more to do with the lack of headaches than the water but like I said, mind over matter.
