  • I'm not sure where you are from, but here in the UK we have Nakd bars which are low calories natural bars made from fruits and nuts. The cocoa orange one is divine and about 130cal per bar and really healthy!

Or Fibre plus bars are 111 calories and deliver a great chocolate fix. But sometimes, I just allocate some calories and macros for chocolate :)

There's a great recipe a friend gave me...

    2 tbsp peanut butter
    2 tbsp cocoa powder
    2 tbsp brown sugar
1 instant oatmeal packet (or 1/2 cup oatmeal)

Blend all those ingredients together, and then slowly add water until it all just sticks together. Divide into quarters and roll each quarter into a ball. Refrigerate.

They are SO good, and 2 are only 210 calories... but you get a little chocolate fix and a lot of fiber. :)

this is so key for me-- I add diet hot cocoa to my morning coffee, eat a cookies and cream luna bar for breakfast-- all choc all the time, starting with breakfast... then also love sugar free choc pudding, sugar free choc fudgsicles, chocolate flavored calcium supplements; when I travel I bring choc energy bars as meal replacements, but I have to be careful not to use those as snacks because those calories add up fast. I'd love to see the other ideas!

You can try Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate (70%) Wedges. Two wedges = 70 calories. I find this very satisfying.

Dark chocolate has anit-oxidants, so it's not all bad... the higher the %, the better. 70% is a minimum.

    Portion control is key :-)

Try drinking some light soy milk with some sugar free chocolate syrup stirred in. It does the trick for me. It only ends up being around 140 calories and maybe 8 sugars. It is also very filling.

Ah, a topic that hits close to home for me... : )

I like 1 Tablespoon of Nestle' semisweet chocolate chips with 1/3 cup of pecans (this is my "go to" when I'm craving chocolate chip cookies).

I also do protein shakes (I've been using one I buy at Target: Pure Protein 100% Whey Protein Frosty chocolate flavor made with milk).

Oh, and my own version of McDonald's mocha frappe's when I really want to treat myself.

just 'enjoy' chocolate...if your psyche is anything like mine, substitutes are never good enough, so enjoy the chocolate and add a little extra to your workout next time to compensate as well as make ourself feel better. this is a lifestyle, after all, and not one that should exclude everything we love and enjoy.

I make healthy treats with carob instead of cocoa. Carob has more nutrients and is naturally sweeter so it isn't packed with all the sugar and crap that chocolate (yes, even delicious dark chocolate) is. No caffeine either, so no crash.

    Hi,

I actually work in the chocolate industry - the best chocolate you might like to try is called Acticoa:

    • Contains antioxidants / rich in antioxidants
    •Contains flavanols
•Contains more flavanols than standard chocolate on the market
•Strengthens your natural defences against oxidative stress

for more information on its health benefits visit the following site - http://www.acticoa.com/en/

Unfortunately, we haven't yet moved into this particular type of chocolate as you need a license to even sell it let alone produce it. Otherwise I would have directed you to our website.

    Hope that helps.

Sorry just to add - the darker the chocolate, the better it is for you. Basically the more cocoa solids like 70, 80 or even 90%. You'd just have to be a little restrictive.

I do enjoy bad-for-you chocolate from time to time, but better choices are high-quality dark chocolate, carob, or something like cacao nibs... might take some getting used to, but may also hit the spot. Another option is to get a chocolate flavored protein bar. Zone makes a chocolate mint one that is to die for. I love me some chocolate mint.

Another thought (serial posting... but it's about chocolate, so I should be forgiven! LOL) is that you can do trail mixes full of great nuts and seeds and tasty dried fruits, and add semisweet chocolate chips. The salty-sweet combination is dynamite, and just a little chocolate goes a long way in a trail mix.

I love Stonyfield Farm's Chocolate Underground yogurt :) A little higher in sugar than regular yogurt, but it is better than a chocolate bar!! Lower in fat!
