Hi all, has anyone experienced bad skin when losing weight? And what did you do to fix it? This is my 3rd week of a low carb diet and my skin has gone mental, really painful spots which I've never had before so can only put down to my diet?

Also, my dad mentioned to me my breath is starting to smell which is so NOT attractive, I'm putting this down to my low carb diet also. How can I fix this without coming off my low carb diet just yet? I'm planning on re-introducing more carbs in about 4 weeks.

what is the point of only reducing carbs for 4 weeks? you'll just regain the weight you have lost as the majority will be water?

I'm not only reducing for 4 weeks, I said I'm on my 3rd week and re-introducing some carbs in about 4 weeks time, which would make 7 weeks carb free.

Not that this helps with any of my OP.

when you get to the more carbs stage that should help with the breath, otherwise, carry mints!

cant help with the bad skin i'm afraid.

ARe you also trying to keep fat low? Too little fat intake can have a negative impact on hair, skin, nails. And the foods you eat can impact your breath. You can try elimination. Choose something that you eat on a regular basis, and don't have it for a week. See if that improves your breath. If not, try eliminating something else... If you do find the culprit, then try having less of it.

I did low carb for 4mths and had the keto breath from start to finish. I tried many different remedies and the only thing that helped was upping my carbs. The keto breath was the one and only reason i abandoned this way of eating :(

As for the skin thing.. Have you googled keto rash? This could be what it is.

Your skin problem can be from the low carb diet.. I have read that when your body is adjusting to the reduced amount of energy you're feeding it can react like this.. your body should readjust eventually

I recommend mouthwash. Lots and lots of mouthwash.

The only way to improve your skin and breath is to up your carbs.

Never heard of low carb causing skin problems. As for the breath issue, for some people (including me) it goes away on its own after a few weeks. Since you're only planning to do this for a few weeks, you might as well reintroduce some carbs now. 7 weeks is barely enough time for your body to adapt all the way to the low carb fuel you're giving it.

A change in diet can often increase sebum production for various reasons. It'll settle once your body gets used to it.

You I'm quite the opposite I've noticed as I'm be been trying to lose weight my skin has only gotten better. I do ensure that I'm properly hydrated though are you drinking enough water?
