To Detox or Not to Detox?

I've been struggling losing much weight the last 3 weeks. A friend last night suggested that I try to do detox. I don't really know much about them so I figured some of you lovely MFP people have tried it. I've heard really great things about detoxing, but I want to make sure I am doing the right one. What would be your suggestion?
Thanks!

Save your money. Your body does an excellent job of detoxing itself if you eat well and stay hydrated. Not only are "detoxes" unnecessary, they may be unsafe as well.0 -

They're scams. If they help you lose weight, it's because you're eating fewer calories than you burn, you're increasing water intake so you're less bloated, or you don't eat solids so you don't have any food in your digestive system. Focus on what is normal, what your body needs (pro/carb/fat/minerals/vitamins/water), and you'll do fine.0

I actually had some decent success just doing a three day juice fast detox. I had plateaued for a few weeks before I started. I lost 4 pounds in 3 days and it keeps coming off normally from there. So it was a good thing for me. I wouldn't necessarily suggest doing any sort of expensive program though if that's what you're talking about.

Try alkaline water it detoxifies your body naturally and is much more hydrating and filled with minerals than bottled water.
I have the kyk generation 2 but i hear tyent is great as well

Ill do the Wild Rose Detox about 2x a year, its really clean eating and you take a bunch of herbs to help clean your organs out. its only 35.00.0

I agree. If you want, do your own "detox" by just eating really really clean (whole unprocessed foods only, focus on lots of vegetables and other natural high fiber sources)...that should be enough.0 -
Look up the Spring Equinox cleanse on ehow.com It's a very gentle cleanse that still includes eating fruits and vegetables and is an excellent choice for a first cleanse. In my opinion doing a detox/cleanse is not only about ridding your body of toxins, but also about putting you in a better place mentally so that you can continue on with a clean eating plan and a good fitness plan as well. If you do have any health issues/concerns, make sure that you do talk to your doctor before you start any type of cleanse.0
