Should I count my fitbit step calories into my calories burned or just stick with my exercise workout? What do people do?

Connect your Fitbit to MFP and let the two do the work for you

So you include this ontop of your exercise? I've just been counting my exercise calories and not my walking ones because I don't want to. I just wondered if other fit bit users recommended I changed this.

I count the steps but I calculate it manually..fitbit assigns way more calories burned that it should I think. Then, after I have logged my exercise, at the end of the day I calculate and add the steps/calories burned....You burn them, you might as well count it..

    Hi,

So my fit it saya I have taken 14000 steps today and myfitness pal reckons I have burned nearly 550 calories.

    Does this sound right?

I take what my Fitbit says with a grain of salt. On bench days, I do a heavy solid hour of benching which probably burns quite a few calories, but I'm not moving around much so obviously not registering many steps. Plus I don't think it's very accurate

It depends on your gender, height, current weight, MFP Activity Level, and MFP setting for rate of loss per week. You have not provided enough information to determine that.

For comparison, I am 55, 5'8", 150 lbs, in maintenance, have a Fitbit Charge 2, and have MFP set at Sedentary. The last time I got 13,750 steps, I earned 1200 extra Calories as my Fitbit Calorie adjustment.
