I discovered eggroll wrappers at my grocery store a few weeks ago and they've sense became one of my favorite things to use at dinnertime!
I've made a few different kind: Cheeseburger eggrolls, Chicken taco eggrolls, and breakfast eggrolls.
I bake them, not fry, so they are low in calories, carbs, and have 0 fat.
Does anyone else use these? I'd love to share recipes!

I've used them in place of pasta for spinach-ricotta manicoti. Noodles are likelier to break.3

Stupid question, but as I'm not at the grocery store right now... are they made with wheat? My husband is celiac so I'm always looking for interesting ways to spice up his boring anti-gluten food0

Not at all.2 -
I totally forgot about egg roll wrappers. Same question as Butterball above - are they gluten free? I think they are made with rice flour but not sure if there's wheat flour or not. I used to fry the cabbage/carrot blend, add cooked hamburger to it, soy sauce/tamari, and 5 spice powder. Roll in the wrappers, seal with water, and bake. Thanks for the ideas in this thread!1

It's probably flour.......but you might find something with rice flour
You would have better luck with spring roll wrappers (rice skin)....but they are prepared very differently.2 -
There are basically five (or six) types of Asian "roll wrappers".
- Dried Rice Paper Wrappers - These are the only ones that are not made from wheat flour. They are made from rice flour. These are rehydrated in warm water, transparent, and used a lot in Vietnamese cuisine.
- Spring Roll Wrappers - Made from wheat flour. They make the smaller, smooth rolls you see in Asian restaurants.
- Eggroll Wrappers - Thicker versions of spring roll wrappers that are thicker because the dough also contains egg.
- Lumpia Wrappers - Basically thinner versions of spring roll wrappers, but pre-cooked. Found mostly in Filipino cuisine.
- Wonton Wrappers - Wheat flour, egg, water, and salt used for Chinese dumplings.
- Gyoza Wrappers - Basically just the Japanese name for wonton wrappers.
So only the rice paper wrappers are gluten free.
ETA: The final product made with rice paper wrappers are frequently called Spring Rolls, but the wrappers are almost always called rice paper wrappers. If it says spring roll and not rice paper you need to double check the ingredients to confirm which "spring roll" they are referring to. Rice paper wrappers are also almost always round.

Probably, but I don't want to be rolling up twice as much. Idk how to explain it. It's like when I want Kraft dinner, I want Kraft dinner, not another brand. I want egg roll wrappers for egg rolls.0 -

What's the approximate calories in an egg roll shell?0

I use egg roll wrappers in my veggie lasagna. Easy to cut to fit pan. Makes it lighter.0
