I know a bunch of people who have used the HCG injections and later pills and stayed on that ridiculously low calories regimen, lost a lot of weight, and all of them gained it back, either most or all of it. During their weight loss phase I congratulated them, and I never said anything negative, even though I personally have never believed in any restrictive diets or miracle foods etc. I figure most people in that situation are not really open to skepticism or criticism, they have to figure out for themselves that it is not a sustainable way to lose and keep off weight. If it was someone really close like family or best friend I would be more outspoken about it, but not with friends or acquaintances.

HCG is not banned. Its prescribed legally everyday for women at fertility clinics and kids with pituitary gland issues when their nuts haven't dropped yet, it has never been a diet or weight loss substance.

i mean, that's not its intended use, but it clearly has been marketed as such.

Please research what hcg actually is

Just because its marketed as a something doesn't mean it should be used as that ... hcg pills or drops don't even exist, hcg is only injectable and will absolutely do nothing for weight loss, eating 500 calories is where this weight loss comes from, hcg if injecting the real deal is just messing with your hormones and potentially doing more damage than you realize.

You guys realize that hcg is not used for weight loss right? Hcg is generally used by men on a cycle of test to keep them from shutting down, it keeps the testes from shrinking and also allows them to produce testosterone naturally while on cycle, this makes recovery easier after the cycle... I'm thinking the super low calories are making you guys lose weigh not the hcg

That's why it's illegal to be given for weight loss, and whatever the OP's friend is using is either illegal or fake. The "hcg diet," complete with injections or drops, is still alive and well, administered by scam artists.

It serves no purpose in weight loss, real hcg is easy to buy, its not over the counter but can be found and purchased easily.. " hcg diet" is definitely a scam as hcg does nothing for losing weight and hcg can only be administered through injections, needs to be mixed with bac water and stored in the fridge ... idk what these people are taking but I'd stop it ASAP

this is my point though. it has no effect on weight loss but it's marketed with a 700 calorie / day diet (for men, it's 500 for women). it's like $600 for the shots, and it's stupid and dangerous and nobody wants to to hear that. hence my original dilemma.

Didn't see this, sorry i misunderstood your stand on it. Yes you are definitely correct never do this and please encourage your friends to stop doing it, they are hurting themselves... your guy friend is going to be so bummed when he gets gyno and grows boobs

I know it's not banned. It's just illegal to be prescribed for weight loss. It has legitimate theraputic purposes.

For those of you who do not know what it does and how it works. Dr Oz had this subject on his show years ago with different caloric intakes. It may be an option for those who need to lose a lot of weight as it does not reduce your muscle mass at an alarming rate, it's actually better than just dieting with no exercise.

Be the best advocate for your health, do your research, talk to a doctor and you both plan the best strategy on if you would like to take the HCG route. After you lose the weight, just like gastric bypass and other weight loss items, it's a tool that aids you to your loss; maintaining it is completely up to you. A lifestyle change is needed to keep the weight off regardless.

@bleshaun the, link you posted & your 2nd, paragraph're contradictory because Dr. Oz had to, testify at a congressional hearing for; being a fraud! So trusting anything via, Dr. Oz isn't being an advocate at all for; your health!

Actually... no! It's what you posted however my words are and they still stand...

"For those of you who do not know what it is and what it works" and "Be the best advocate for your health, do your research, talk to a doctor and you both plan the best strategy on if you would like to take the HCG route."

    Have a great one.
