I plan an evening snack - so I don't have to stress about not eating between dinner and next morning - but if you crave something - plan it into your daily calories1

I get craving all the time. I try not to think about or obsess about snacking, I drink some water and/or go to bed early.0

I skip breakfast and in lieu I have a bunch of snacks after dinner up until bedtime. I save MOST of my calories for after dinner daily. Just adjust your eating to account for this1

This. For me, I'm always hungry at night, so I budget my calories and do most of my eating at night. I find that if I eat early in the morning, it doesn't make me any less hungry at lunch, so I skip breakfast and morning snacks and just save those calories for at night.
Another tip I've heard to help with cravings versus true hunger - think about eating something different. If it's an hour before bedtime and you're craving bread, ask yourself if a plate of vegetables or some yogurt or other snack also sounds appealing. If you'd be happy eating the plate of vegetables or cup of yogurt, then you're truly hungry so go ahead and have the bread or whatever snack you choose. If you *only* want that bread, it's probably just a craving and you're better off distracting yourself with an activity or maybe go to bed early.0 -
I plan on popcorn every night......crave salty and crunchy.
Also, I don't eliminate anything from my diet. For me that's a guarantee that I want it that much more. I want to lose weight AND keep it off. Elimination (unless it's forever) does nothing to help me learn better habits.1 -

Yeah there is something about that time after dinner. My hardest time is 2 hours after dinner until I go to bed. I do great all day until that period of time. Perhaps it's TV. Too much food advertising. Maybe something subliminal. I might have to throw the thing away.
A little distraction. I don't eat in front of the TV anymore. It's so easy to get in trouble with distracted eating. So when I'm watching TV, I have a big glass of ice water and I'm doing something with my hands.....solitaire, crochet, adult coloring book.....anything. You might pause during the program (a bit) and then pick it back up when commercials are on.0 -
I always have a snack planned, maybe even several options, like a 100 calorie peanut butter fudge frozen yogurt bar, or a portion of special K cracker chips, or a clementine or a 100 cal granola bar or fibre bar - lots of options to suit whatever it feels like I am craving. I have done this for virtually every night for the last 18 months, and have lost over 100lbs. If you fit snacks in, you dont feel deprived, and it seems to keep my resolve up to be more mindful of what else i am consuming.0

If you're craving bread after dinner, you probably had a high-carb dinner. The carbs will cause your blood sugar to spike, which in turn causes insulin levels to spike. That causes a craving for more carbs (bread). Try eating a high-protein, low-carb dinner and see if that helps.

I eat dinner late...around 8:30...usually in bed by 9:30.0

Totally. Between the time I get home from work to the time dinner is done it's a free for all. Like all self control disappears between the hours of 5 and 7. I've taken to chewing gum while cooking so I don't binge.0
