Good for you! You will find losts of tips and advice here that absolutely can help you do that! First, enter all your statistics into MFP, and it will calculate for you how many calories a day you can aim for in order to lose .5, 1.5 or 2 lbs per week. If you have a lot of weight to lose, then by all means enter that you want to lose 2lbs per week, but if only say between 25-50, then pick a lower target as you will get more calories to spend, and your loss will be an easy, gradual one that is more easily sustained. Anything less than 25 lbs and it is probably wise to start at .5 lbs per week.
