Pregnancy setting option for my fitness pal?

Hello! I am currently 24 weeks pregnant and recently upgraded to premium to keep a better eye on the macronutrients I'm consuming. However I am really gaining weight pretty quick and would like to know if there is a pregnancy setting for the appropriate calories I need to consume to keep my eating under control but still healthy for my baby! Thanks....

Hello,
There is no pregnancy setting per say but I believe if you set it to maintenance for the first two trimesters and then put it on gain for the last trimester, that would work.
Maybe select gain .5lb a week and see if that works?0 -
I suspect that MFP doesn't want to give pregnancy nutrition advice, hence, so such setting. It can vary for everyone. I suggest you talk your doctor about what the appropriate rate of gain is for you, then you can set MFP accordingly.1

I second talking to your provider. Has your care provider said anything about your weight?0

During pregnancy you need to eat on average 300 extra calories a day. And when breast feeding 500 extra. Really not that much more. This is for a normal weight mom not pregnant with multiples.
Also you should definitely talk to your doctor about your weight loss plans before doing anything. Good luck0 -
I don't think MFP will ever do a 'pregnancy' setting because every pregnancy is different and they aren't medically qualified to give such advice.
I worried quite a lot about my weight gain with my first pregnancy. I tried really hard not to gain too much for the first two trimesters yet still gained 30lbs by 6 months, and admittedly relaxed a little by the 3rd when it became obvious my efforts made no difference. I managed to gain about 55lbs by the end of it and I am only 5'2" and not particularly big usually. I did have a 10lb baby, but still, I have no idea how I managed it. Perhaps a lot of water as I was very swollen towards the end. My midwife told me it doesn't really matter how much you gain, it's whether you manage to lose it afterwards (not immediately afterwards of course).
Took me 13 months but I lost it all and a couple more. About 2/3 came off with zero effort, I had to work for the last 15 pounds but it was nothing ridiculous, just sensible eating and a bit of walking. I'm pregnant again now, and not going to worry about it too much. I lost it once and I will lose it again.
If you're worried, you're better off speaking to your midwife/doctor. Good luck!1
