How many rest days do you take per week? Are those days totally sedentary or lightly active (e.g. walking, yoga, etc.)?

I take 3 rest days from working out/running; however, I do go horse riding on those days. What about yourself?0

I class Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays as rest days as I don't run.
I still hike, cycle or walk though. Yesterday as an example I did an 8 mile hike.0 -

I'm trying to work out what makes sense. I haven't really been taking rest days recently (either doing strength training, cross training, HIIT, or running every day), but I think I need to take more. Trying to decide if I should fill them with yoga and/or walking or take a full rest, since I truly enjoy being physically active.0 -
I only typically take rest days when they are forced on me by other commitments.
But my workout routine is mostly alternating days upper body strength and lower body cardio (cycling predominately) so I'm getting recovery that way. Recovery and rest are different.
Extremely rare for me not to do some activity.1 -
I take 1-2 days per week active rest (non lifting)0

Until recently, I was running 6 days per week with one rest day. Currently I am running 4 days per week and lifting plus easy cycling 2 days per week. However, I walk my dog and do yoga/stretching every day regardless. It is okay to be lightly active on your rest days, as long as you are giving your body a chance to recover. Walking and yoga can actually aid in the recovery process by stimulating blood flow, so it should not be a problem. Just listen to your body and keep the intensity at an appropriate level.0

1 or 2, sometimes they are total rest, sometimes they are just walking or yoga.
my 'normal' workouts are running, biking and a bit of strength training.0 -
2-3. One of those days is a work day so I'm lightly active, may even take a walk at lunch. The other days are on the weekends. Sometimes I'll run one day, sometimes I don't do any exercise all weekend. I do clean my house one of the days so I'd say lightly active. The other day is often spent lounging in my pajamas watching tv and not reaching more than 2000 steps.0

I'm not sure what you call walking your dog, but most of the people I see walking their dogs are doing a lot of standing around while their dog runs all over the place.0
