I took one that relied on boron citrate. According to reviews, it affects people differently. The effect I noticed most was shorter recovery times (was no longer sore the next day, even after HITT / Speedwork-- except that one hill session). Takes a couple days to a week to ramp up. But messed up my circadian rhythm something awful, so I stopped taking. Took almost a month to get back to "normal".0

Quick non judgmental question - Do you have low testosterone? Have you had it checked? I personally don't use supplements (bar fish oils for my creaky knees) as I get everything through food but each to their own. Just thought I would ask.1
-
No supplements are going to do that to any appreciable effect.
There's supplements that will, but that's another story.
If you believe you have low test levels, consult a doctor and get it sorted.3 -
The only way to elevate testosterone noticeably is to "take" testosterone.
Any pill that claims to boost testosterone is a waste of money.4 -
OTC supps that are "Test boosters" don't work. Every study I have seen shows there is no long term boost to your test levels. There may be the initial boost when you take it for about a week, but after that u get nothing.
And the amt of test you need to really promote substantial muscle growth is going to be the kind you inject in great quantities.
And from a lab experiment of one (me)...I have tried test boosters and I got nothing.
Just a waste of money.1 -

^This. The same maxim applies to "test boosters" as does to diet pills/fat burners - if it's legal, it doesn't work; if it works, it isn't legal.0 -

This.
If you want more evidence, you can check out the anabolicminds forums. Keep in mind, some of them "work", but when you look at science on the topic, they're still pointless unless your levels are just totally bottomed out.
The best of the legal ones are only going to augment hormones by a couple of points, which isn't enough to do a damned thing for you. The levels required to see any quantifiable benefit to hypertrophy are roughly 30% above what is considered normal, and you need actual exogenous test (or certain AAS) to make that happen.
That said, some of them have nasty sides that can screw you in the other direction. This is why I recommend checking out some of the bloods posted by guys on the AM forums. Not only do most do nothing notable, but some will actually do the opposite of what you want.0 -

We all need more testosterone..............1 -
The only testosterone "boosters" that actually work are anabolic steroids.
They have some serious physical and emotional side effects, are now generally derided by the public at large and the sports community generally and their use will get you banned from competitions BUT if your objective is to get abnormally big AND you are willing to accept the risks (physical, social and competitive) AND if you can find a legal and reliable source for some AND if you can afford it, go for it.
Just note that in order to stay big on steroids, you have to keep taking them or you'll lose your gains. Once you stop taking them you'll go back to "normal" again and you may or may not look as good or better than b4. All you have to do is look at b4 and after pics of Arnold to see this.
I wouldn't consider it myself but, if you are a mentally competent adult, it's your body, your money and your choice. Not my place to judge. Good luck.0 -

don't even bother they are a waste of money0 -
the real stuff is the only possible way to not get ripped off by supplement companies.
Go see a doctor to be referred to an endochronologist and receive legal test injections0 -

I hope this isn't about Arnold's beach pics around the time he was having heart surgery (which doesn't tell us anything about steroids). No matter what he was or wasn't taking at any given time, he's been in shape pretty much his whole life, and is in unbelievable physical condition for a man pushing 70.1 -
Not sure what your end-goal is but I have had some success with using 7-Keto DHEA; Whole Adrenal (start with 80 mgs) and Adrenal Cortex (start with 100 mgs.) The adrenals do provide additional hormones and kick in after a certain age as long as they are not depleted / stressed.
Over training actually leads to adrenal fatigue in some cases, and works against you. Counter-intuitive, but true. Also, I am 59 years old -- if you are not at least 50, trying to boost your testosterone by adding adrenal supplements is not what you should be doing.
A safe way to increase muscle mass in young men is to increase your protein - but since you can only metabolize 20 mg before you pee the rest away you would have to do protein shakes / high protein meals every few hours for it to stick.
Also, avoiding good fats is not desirable. You need cholesterol! It is not bad for you. Without “free cholesterol” your body cannot produce effective amounts of pregnenolone, which, in turn, affects your body’s ability to make essential Mineralocorticoids, Glucocorticoids, and sex hormones.
Eat good fats including animal fat.
If you were over 50, you could also try icirin / Horny Goatweed since it boosts both Nitric Oxide and the production of free-circulating testosterone.
Not your mom, but I am saying this anyway -
DO NOT EVER TAKE "ANDROSTENEDIONE" PRODUCTS.
Androstenedione is a naturally occurring androgenic steroid that is produced by the adrenal glands, ovaries, and testicles. Once released into the blood it is rapidly converted into testosterone, but there are also pathways through which androstenedione is converted into estrogen.
The combination of anabolic steroids, when administered to cause levels higher than normally found in the body, and strength training results in an increase in muscle size, strength, and fat free mass. Further effects are increased red blood cell mass, improved mood/aggression, and blunting of the catabolic effect of heavy training. These latter effects may enable endurance athletes to train harder while minimizing overtraining. Whether androstenedione use yields these performance enhancing effects, though, is yet to be directly determined.
The bottom line on safety of androstenedione is that there are no long-term studies available. However, since androstenedione is an androgenic steroid, it is very likely that we will discover that it is harmful. Add to this the lack of applied quality standards for manufacturing, variations in dosage, and combination with other substances, and it is obvious that there is potential for widespread harm.
Commonly seen side effects due to excess androgens are:- Acne
- Liver abnormalities
- Lowering of the HDL/LDL cholesterol ratio, thus increasing the risk for atherosclerotic disease.
- Testicular atrophy ("Honey, I shrunk the testicles"), and subsequent infertility.
- Hirsuitism and other masculinizing effects in women.
- Adolescents: Premature closure of the growth plates in bone resulting in shorter adult stature.
- Breast enlargement in men.
- Mood changes.
Less common or potential adverse effects:- Liver tumors – both benign and malignant
- Leukemia / lymphoma
- Psychiatric reactions
- Other cancers

Finally, similar to women, men have fallen for the "ideal body" fallacy and are suckered into doing all sort of harmful things to achieve perfection. Form where I am sitting, you look healthy and perfect just as you are. Adding more testosterone can lead to negative side effects, such as excessive risk taking, aggression, and being a dick-head".
