So I went out today to celebrate my friends birthday. We wen to a pizza place and I went over my calorie limit by 1800. I have alittle over 3000 calories today! I hate that. It makes me so freaking mad, I knew I shouldnt do it. I have one cheat day a week but I never go over that much. How much do you think this will set me back?

It'll set you back 1800 calories. Thats not even a whole pound.

Never fear. Exercise a bit more tomorrow, drink LOTS of water after that lovely pizza  and you will be fine.

*Quick side note on pizza. Pizza Hut's Pizza Mia is only 200 cals per slice. Its also made with delicious ingredients. Thats always where I run when I have a take out pizza craving.
  • LOL, thank you so much. It still sucks but that makes me feel so much better. I truely could'nt help myself. Thanks for the heads up on the pizza though, will deffinetly go there next time.

PIZZA! got me too, on Friday. I can't resist it.

I went over by 900 calories... I'm going to try and cut out 300 more than usual for the next three days to make up for it.

But if we don't indulge ourselves every once in a while... Well, what's the point of living!?
  • I only cheat once a week but never by that many calories, I felt so sick afterwards, not like sick to my stomach but I guess disgusted in myself for doing it and I was so worried that it would put the pounds back on me. I guess I kind of need that cheat day though or else I don't think I would be able to go trhough with it. Cutting the calories for the next few days does sound like a good idea though, so thanks alot.

I decided to lose a pound a week, so I have a manageable 1800 calories a day to play with, which means cutting out 300 a day, or so, isn't that bad. I went over by 900, so three days of eating 300 calories less 'makes up for it.'

But in the end, it would take some serious world-class competition-style eating to ruin six days of dieting with one day of indulgence! So even if you did go over, don't beat yourself up about it.

Losing weight, I've been told, isn't a sprint, it's a marathon, so I think the big picture's more important than one small lapse.

Yeah, I like the "roll-over" calories approach too. But you don't want to scimp on nutrients, so make those calories you DO eat in the next couple days really good ones. Lots of Veggies and fiber, no juices or sugar. Stay away from the complex carbs. Then at least you are full and eating healthy. I try to have bean soup and salads on my "roll-over" days. Low fat, high fiber, lots o' nutrients.

  • Thanks to you all, greatly appreciated, I'm new to the eating healthy thing so I dont know alot about all the good nutrients and all that, so THANKS!!

Yeah, sounds like you should just brush it off and go forward. I know that I was totally purplexed about my sodium intake even though alot of my foods were within calorie range and dang, who knew how much sodium I was eating before! I have been trying to drink extra water and even hit up the sauna one time this week to hopefully offset some of it ................perhaps that could be a game plan for you too!

x2 on the sodium. Anything we eat that is in a package these days is loaded with it. None the less, the pizza is apart of life. Hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20- Enjoy it, but refocus on a new tomorrow. Beside, if you were following a low carb diet, your body could have been for a re-fuel and you spared your muscle glycogen. So you'll retain your hard earned muscle and continue burning the fat! You got it girl!

Yep, you are so right, some things that seemed so innocent to me had so much more sodium than I ever would've thought at looking at or caring about. I'm quite conservative now with salt on my food and was using hot sauce:noway: dang, same damn thing! But better to be aware and cautious now than not at all!:drinker:
  • :noway: Oh wow, I really did'nt realize sodium was such a big deal. I love salt. I crave it, I almost can't eat anything without it. My bf was using different spices on everything to get me away from salt, I guess thats why. I'm alittle slow when it comesto those things. I will deffinetly be eating less salt and watching the sodium and deffinetly drink more water. I already drink 3 bottles of water a day which are 700ml each. I'm not sure how much that is exactly is that close to a glass or more then?
  • I'm actually totally confused about this, my water bottle says 700mL(1Pinta, 7.7 OZLIQ) ? What the hell is all that?
  • sodium can be a bear....it makes my heart race and sometimes causes me to black out also....GRRRR I have become very aware of the sodium monster....700 ml = 2.958 cups

I found a great conversion web site if you would like to use it...www.onlineconversion.com

I don't have a "Cheat" day...I HATE that word...the only person you are cheating is yourself.. and if I allow myself a WHOLE day...wow I would blow my calories out of the water...I do reward myself... I am not strict with what I am "allowed" to eat...because I love food - obviously or I wouldn't be in my current predicament and I can't be one of those peeps who cut out everything...I have tried that approach and been totally run over by the band wagon!

I find that being aware about what I am eating and my overall calorie goals make me better accountable to myself...and are there days where I go over? Of course we all do...but rather than dwell on it...let it go...be proud of what you have accomplished so far...don't let a small setback deter you and get right back on to making healthy choices. A life change is all about the bigger picture...do you think skinny people don't eat poorly every once in a while? Of course they do...the difference? They make better choices on a regular basis...we can do that too.

This website and these people are great tools in finding the skinny person inside us all!

Best of luck on your weight loss journey...don't give up the fight!

Haha- I love being a male. Salt doesn't effect me as much as you gals! Sodium just has a way of holding onto water. Which currently I am probably weighing in about 6-7 lbs heavy because

    1. My sodium intake is a bit high
    2. I am taking creatine-mono which carries water into your muscle.

For you gals, your time of the month you guys hold water like a mofo! Pardon the french. While workin at GNC the females would buy diuretics like the FDA just banned them lol. Your weight will fluctuate because of the water. IF you just realize that your taking off inches & not pounds, you'll be a much happier you! Your losing the fat, but are still weighing the same that is most likely the reason! Stay strong because the next week you should have a big number (So long as you watch your sodium)
  • Thanks, I did'nt know the whole thing about weight and PMS. I was so ticked last week when I only lost 2 pounds, but I'm thinking it was because of that. I hope anyway. You all have been so helpful, thank you so much and I will keep a better eye on my sodium. Thanks for converting my water. I had no freaking idea. I love your wording ROSERED, Thanks for the insight Kmill. Thanks to everyone who responded it was all a HUGE help.

So Kmill....did those diuretics work????? LOL, but kinda curious. :blushing:

Haha yes. Some of them were more cost effective, but from most women I talked to they all loved it. Now there is a difference in what you can buy though so pay attention. GNC makes a "water pill" which is all natural way of just helping your body shed excess water, then their are competition diuretics which are extremely dangerous! I had a lot of girls see the commercial of "expel," which pretty much promoted directly for those situations. But if it were me- stick with herbal or even up your caffeine intake and asparagus to help shed the water! I am about 6 months removed from the supplement world though, so talk to your local nutritionalist or Doctor and they can give you better information.

But to answer your question, yes- girls used them to get rid of the bloated feeling....lol

YOU LOST 2 POUNDS AND YOU ARE BUMMED???? Are you kidding me? I lost 2 lbs this week and I am super excited!!! LOL I guess overall I am happy I stuck with it, made good choices and hey 2 lbs is 2 lbs...last week was 1 lb, but it was still 1 lb. I think it has to do with my mentality. I went through a terrible period when I was a teenager and after I made it through I guess I just determined that going forward I wanted to make the most of what time I have here. I want to be a positive person, and I try my best to be that for me and the people around me. Granted I have my bad negative days also, but overall I want to be the positive person people gravitate towards.

This might also be a side effect of being a heavy girl and wanting people to like me for me not disregard me because I was fat...but hey...if being fat gave me a good personality, well when I am a smoking hot skinny chick...I'll still have it!!! LOL

Just remember, each pound is a step toward the ultimate goal...there will probably be week where you lose nothing (been there done that) track your inches also...that will so totally help keep you motivated when you see the inches falling off!

    You go girl!
