When unexpected outings happen

Hi everyone! It's the end of the day and I've eaten almost all my calories for the day. My husband just texted that he wants to go to sonic. He is very supportive of my weight loss and would never make me feel like I have to eat anything unhealthy but I am hungry and would like to spend the quality time together and eat something. My question is...what do you do in situations where you werent expecting to go out to eat but it happens spontaneously? Do you just count it as a cheat day? Lower calories for next day? Refuse to go? Curious to know how others handle this.

Diet Coke and kid's burger?0

I'd Diet Coke and small fries. Something you can pick at (I'd inhale a burger in seconds lol). Or just get something small. I used to say kitten it, my day is ruined and go way over but now I mitigate damage but I don't stress tooooo much if it's a one off. Enjoy the quality time today; find other quality time if you're short on macros the rest of the week tho2

I ended up getting three chicken strips and a medium water. Chicken strips were the saddest little things I've ever seen but they were also only around 300 calories so I guess it balanced out. Thanks y'all!2

Does Sonic have a garden salad? That's usually my go-to choice for an unexpected dinner.
Well, a garden salad and sometimes some onion rings.2 -
Call it a day at maintenance... go for a walk after food?1

Go for a basic hot dog with very limited condiments. If you need to get fries or tots get a small. In fact I think they have a kids meal of with hot dog or relatively plain burger as options.1

As long as these types of outings weren't habitual I wouldn't worry about it and just enjoy life. In the grand scheme of things a day lets say once a month or twice a month isn't going to ruin your diet.
If you do worry about it tho sonic has diet slushes which is something you could drink while he eats if you just want to spend the time with him.1 -
I like their tots, especially in the breakfast burritos. But I don't have any hard-and-fast goals for weight loss, so I just make a mental note not to get upset with myself if the scale doesn't go down as quickly - or if it even goes up for awhile!1

Depends.
I have an amount of calories I usually have for each meal so if we were suddenly eating out for lunch or dinner I'd find something that fit 400-500 calories. I know foods that fit that at our usual restaurants.
Yesterday dh brought home a pie. We don't have pie very often. I changed my snack plan and walked more.
The other day dh and dd wanted to go get shakes after dinner and I didn't have the calories, didn't want to exercise more or just get an unsweetened tea. I skipped it. I don't always go along with these things if it isn't something I really want.2
