I was told eat your meal for what you will be doing in 3 hours......so I try to eat protein before....just my opinion0

It's recommended to take BCAAs (which are found in whey protein powder as well) before your lifting workout. Within the 30 - 45 minutes after your workout, you want to have easily digestible carbs with some protein for recovery and then about an hour after that you can have your regular meal. Your muscles will be ready to accept the carbs after your workout.0

The human body replenishes its nutrient stores most rapidly in the first 1-2 hours after exercise. Best advice is always have a mixed meal (research suggests a liquid meal is best) of carbohydrate and protein for faster recovery and muscle growth between workouts.0
