High protein/low carb success

I'm sure this topic isn't new, but I've been paying way more attention to cutting back on carbs and increasing protein and for the first time in a long time am having success. I know it's CICO, but where my calories are coming from is making a difference for me. The only problem I'm having is I don't eat red meat and I'm not a huge fan of fish, so finding enough protein sources without overdoing eggs is the challenging part. Just wanted to share!

    I have been having issues meeting protein goals daily. I found Turkey lunch meat that was high in protein and I use tuna fish and chicken as much as possible. Today I made my first protein shake and not going to lie I was afraid to for weeks because I thought it would be gross. At 245 calories it was good source of protein and it was quite delicious!

    That type of diet works much better for me as well.

    Some other protein sources I eat a lot of include chicken, cottage cheese, and greek yogurt. I also include things like peanut butter and almonds and cheese as snacks that add to the protein totals (they aren't HIGH protein, but it all adds up.)

    Chicken breast is my go to, mostly because it is cheap. Turkey is a great source too. Greek yogurt is good to as is cottage cheese.

    Chicken, turkey, pork tenderloin are high protein, low everything else - I do 130g protein a day and my diary is open

    Pure Protein bars are high in protein and lower in carbs. Still has carbs, but it's NOTHING compared to other protein bars.
    16 grams of carbs.
    Protein powder is also low, maybe 6 grams or so, and some are 20-30grams of protein.
    Chicken breast is good as well. No carbs and loaded with protein. Same with crawfish, crab legs and lobster.
    I know those are exspensive, but with living in the south, every food place is trying to out due the other in price. So the casinos around here have buffets for $30+ of Lobster, crab legs and crawfish.
    Also, Kroger has CarbMaster brands in yogurt and protein shakes. Low in calories, carbs, sugar, and high in protein.
    But eating carbs is not all out evil. In the morn, I mix oatmeal with a CarbMaster yogurt.
    I stopped counting my calorie intake, still watch it, but don't enslave myself with counting. Stay active. Eat high carbs on days I lift and walk. Low carbs on days I don't. By the end of the day, my Glucose can be between 76-96 without fasting yet (Fasting while sleeping at night).
    As a result, I've lost 8.7 pounds since March 10th and have lost 3 inches in my waist.
    It's all about balance really and just staying active. And I'm not referring to heading to the gym and destroying yourself trying to burn off 140 calories.
    After I eat, I go for a 10 minute walk with my dog. And yesterday was a certified high carb day - had four slices of pizza, 1/4 of a personal sized cake, small bag of chips and a mini charlie brown. This morn I lost 1.6 pounds. And didn't gain anything in my waist. Today is more of higher protein day due to chicken, ham and eggs and a fair amount of carbs plus dog walk with 20 minutes of lifting.
    Tomorrow it's no workout. Just walking around at work, 10 min dog walk and low carbs.

    I'm curious - are you eating the same amount of calories only allocating your macros to increase protein and decrease your carbs? And by 'making a difference' - do you mean with weight loss or 'fat percentages', etc.,?

    I've been thinking of doing the same and would love to know!

    Also, egg whites and cheese sticks are a good low carb, high protein source.
    I still eat regular eggs a couple times a week for the cholesterol, but switch up to whites for the higher protein, low carb meal without going overboard on my cholesterol.
    I also eat sugar free wheat bread. It's low in carbs.
    I cook eggs whites with chicken and put it between toasted sugar free wheat bread. My husband has also said the meat like that tastes like spam.
    And the cheese sticks make for a great snack. Even a later night snack if you're still hungry cause it's not good to eat carbs right before bed. So if you have to cause you're still a bit hungry, go for a cheese stick.

    I haven't been counting calories at all. I'm counting carbs- keeping them under 75 per day. I'm mindful of calories, and watch my portions, but I'm not counting them. I've lost 3 pounds in 10 days.

    It's either the sara lee brand or the nature's own brand. Can be found on most grocery stores, at least, here in the south. It has a red label on it saying Sugar Free.
    It still has carbs, cause it's wheat bread, but not much.

    This worked for me very well at the start of my weightloss journey. I ate lots of ground turkey, chicken, egg WHITES, Greek yogurt, and I tried to eat fish (even though I really don't like it).

    There are a lot of protein bars that are 2 - 3g of carbs, not 16g. They're good in a pinch. I wouldn't suggest eating them all the time though. With 4+ years of low carb under my belt I can confidently say that eating these bars tends to hinder, if not stall, my weightloss (even without increasing calories). I'm not alone in this experience. Better to try and stick to unprocessed foods and avoid artificial sweeteners if you can. I am down 85lbs eating this way.
