Today I ran a 12 mile hill run ... ok lemme rephrase. I ran a strong 8 miles (using run/walk), then walked 1/4 mile. I dragged myself through another mile of run/walk and then walked the rest ....

It was too hot for me... and I was cramping from the heat. Plus I took the first 6 out too fast for me.

I was missing my running partner (had to work) -- who emailed me tonight and is BEGGING me to join him for 12 tomorrow.
I missed one run this week due to the heat...

Other than a bit of a sunburn I feel ok ... am I crazy to think I might could go. We will be doing run/walk and he swears at a slightly slower pace. He wants to go at 6am before its hot...

Am I crazy?

If you feel like your body can handle it, go for it. However, if you start getting too tired/crampy/dehydrated/whatever while you're running, stop. It's good to push your body..that's how it gets better, but don't push it too much.

if you fancy it and think you can do it, crack on! but just let your running buddy know that you might need a few more 'wogging' breaks.
my suggestion to get through it would be to change how you're thinking about it. instead of thinking of it as another 12 mile hill run challenge, think of it as a nice run to start the day (with the emphasis on the 'nice', and not on 'pain' or 'challenge').

I agree, rest tonight and get well. Then tomorrow morning you can try just don't push too hard!!!

I would think that two long runs in a row would not be a good idea - not sure what you normally run during the week, but I really wouldn't recommend it if you were having trouble with 12 today - that's really putting a lot of pressure and stress on your body. Most of the serious distance runners i know don't do back to back long runs like that. Can you talk your running partner into going for a shorter run, like maybe half that?

HYDRATE and rest your legs! If you feel up to it--DO IT!! You'll know your body best. You can decided when to slow it down or to stop all together. And even if it's after 8 miles--HEY!! You just ran 8 miles!! That's awesome!! :D Just keep intune with your body!

Listen to your body and if you go, pace yourself for the long run, don't start too strong.

You may just need to see how you feel in the morning. And maybe let him know you may not be able to do the full 12 with him but would be happy to go as far as you can comfortably, just to help him get started on his run.

Don't forget about the 10% weekly increase rule. Just make sure its not too much of an increase in your weekly miles and be SURE to make it an easy run if you do go. I once increased my miles more than I should have and my training season was never the same after that.

Yeah, I second that. I'd not even do half that the next day. You're setting yourself up for an easily avoided injury!

Don't do it. IMHO You are really setting yourself up for injury, straining your body unnecessarily. Your muscles need recovery time to reap the benefits of what you did today. Long runs break muscles down and rest repairs them so they are stronger for the next long run. Cramming too many miles in is not healthy. Take care of yourself, girl, and don't give in to the begging. Again, IMHO
