Previous student who STILL needs a backpack occasionally.

As mentioned above I am a recent grad who still has the occasion to tote her book bag a mile or two. While on the hunt for a calorie burn of this exact movement all I found was many many MANY sites saying weighted walking is BAD.( Are there NO students who want to know how much they burn while carrying home 6 library books?! Honestly?!)

While I am partially amused that what I have done most of my life is "bad", I would like to know if anyone has this calculation? It certainly does not equate to hiking in the fitness dictionary and I cant find anything that is close enough equivalent.

Help?

I don't know the answer, but I'd certainly like to know the answer as well. I spend well over an hour lugging my bag around daily

If you log it under hiking it will have options for weighted packs. IMO the only difference between hiking and walking is the terrain...so I think it would work!

My hiking pack will come in at 35-40 lbs depending on water and length of the trip. Having done my fair share of both types of lugging things around, I would just log it in as cross country hiking.

    It's close enough!
