Guess who doesn't have any triceps?!

I started a resistance training program today with a set of dumbbells from wal-mart (19 dollars, and fanstastic, set of two and you can adjust the weights). So I did the bicep curls and did fine at 20 lbs...then the triceps...well, lets just say that apparantly I don't have any at all!!! after two reps at 20 lbs, there was a burn equal to that of sticking my arms in boiling water! Lets just say that I am going down to lets say 5 lbs for awhile on there, until my triceps realize that they actually serve a purpose.

Start with a weight that will allow you to complete about 10 repetitions at least and where you'll feel some burn towards the last 2 or 3 reps.
Once you stop feeling the burn increase your reps to 15, once that stops increase to 20
once you reach 20 reps increase weight and go back to a weight that you can go with for 10 reps and feel the burn in the last 3...
repeat over and over.0 -
lol good news is your triceps really do get stronger fast. best tricep exercise is the bench dip. google it. it's much more effective and functional than tricep kickbacks. dont even bother with the weights. just try the bench dips. when i started i couldnt even do one. now i can do ten. also pushups is one of the most effective upper body exercises. it works your triceps, biceps and chest. sometimes we get carried away working one muscle in isolation when we can get much faster, better results doing a compound move like a squat or a push up. start them on your knees. if that's too hard, start them leaning on a wall and gradually move to a lower and lower angle. you'll shape up those triceps in no time.0

 :noway: Me neither - I like to think I have a lot, a lot of room for improvement. I hope that as my triceps improve, the bingo wings will fly away! Good luck! :flowerforyou:0 -
Don't worry, the Tri's will grow real fast. Nearly every exercise for upper body you can do uses them to some degree (except for bicep curls of course). Let us know how you're doing in a few weeks!0

So, I tried some bench dips...WOW! I think I will put the weights away for a little while while working the triceps...the chairs was enough to rip me apart.0
