PiYo without Food Plan?

I've got the beachbody on demand for the year and I've started the PiYo program since I've been having lower back pain and can't do anything too intense quite yet. I'm not someone that can buy fresh food all the time; I do go for convenience while trying to add components here and there.

My question is: does anyone know if I can just count calories instead of follow the food plan? I'm pretty good at following my 1500 calories a day and it's much easier to just plug in that way.

Of course you can. There is nothing magical about their food plan

Okay I wasn't sure. I hear so much about clean eating and that it's preferred over calorie counting but honestly that means more trips to the store to keep fresh stuff and I just don't have that time.

I have a bunch of Beachbody workouts and I never follow the eating plans, just get it for the workout. Just do whatever eating plan works for you. :)

You can definitely just count cals instead and still get results. For me the only thing I notice when I don't get enough fresh foods is a lack of energy and overall tiredness, not so much an issue when I was younger but now that I am pushing 40, if I am not eating clean enough I feel sluggish.
