On the road eating

Hi I'm Chris :)

I have been logging now for 70 days (whoot whoot) I can eat a good breakfast a good lunch and a good supper when I'm home. I do struggle with snack times. But overall I'm doing well on my lifestyle change. The biggest pitfall I'm facing is when I'm on the road (which is often) and I'm stuck eating fast food or sit down restaurant, and honestly fries to me are like alcohol to a alcoholic if it's in front of me I can't control myself. So my question to everyone what are some things that worked for you when you are going to be away from home most of the day or evening.

Many of the kid meals offer apple slices instead of fries. When fast food is the only option, a kid meal with apple slices may be your best bet. I also like to check out the prepared food section of grocery stores and you can pick up some fruit or a salad too.

I usually try for a subway when I'm traveling and get the apple slices as well - it works because I don't really like their chips! I agree that grocery stores will often have a decent selection of prepared foods. When eating out, I try to plan ahead and check out the menu before I leave the house (or on my phone!). Knowing that I'm going to kill 1800 calories on chicken fingers really helps me change my mind!

Honestly I try to pack my food as often as possible, saving dining out for a really special occasion. Even just keeping a protein bar in my car often helps stem the urge to get fast food when I'm out and hungry. If I know I'll be on the road for a meal I take a mini cooler with a meal in it and sometimes just eat in my car.
