Battle Grumpiness?

Hello, when I feel hungry (eg. especially with fewer wheat/ sugar foods) I easily get grumpy, frustrated, flustered and angry. Most of my attempts to cut back my eating end, because I am tired of yelling at my kids (which I do not if my belly "feels" full) - as they very easily set me off and it's the extra sugar (bread, and other high calorie foods) which allow me to be patient with them. -What do you suggest to combat this grumpiness?

Don't cut carbs, it's a myth that you NEED to cut carbs to lose weight. Count calories, stick to the goal MFP sets for you and incorporate all macros and make sure you get in all your micronutrients. I'd also suggest taking deep breaths, I have 3 kids I'm sure they'd love to see me set off, it'd probably be funny to them.

FYI 1 gram of carbs or protein = 4 calories, 1 gram of fat = 9 calories, so bread is not necessarily a high calorie food.

Have you tried sugar substitutes? Right now I'm having a snack of diet root beer and fresh blackberries. Yum!

You may also want to start reducing calories gradually - if you've been used to eating 2400 and you jump down to half that, the adjustment will be harder than if you cut back to 2000, and then to 1800, etc. The MFP goals can help you with that.

Peanut butter works for me (not even joking! It seriously gets me through those moods/slumps like magic.)

    Exercise

I find that after I do some physical activity like cycling I feel better. Also means I get some extra calories to eat.

Make sure your weekly weight loss goal is appropriate for your current height & weight, as the problem may not be carbs but too few calories in general. Many choose 2 lbs/week, but that is really only for those who are extremely overweight/obese, and even then it may not be the best option *for you*. A smaller weekly goal may take a little longer, but may keep everyone happier.
