I own a red button up 'bed' jacket type jacket that I could not button up last year ... the center pieces didin't meet past the centerline of my bussom. This morning, I was able to button it up with room to spare!23

At my cousins bridal shower yesterday.. I haven't seen a lot of my family in some time and so many of them came up to me to say how great I looked! It made me feel amazing because sometimes I notice my hard work but other times I get down on myself.25

I retired in 2013 and put my pedometer away. At that time I was walking a minimum of 10K due to my job. I needed a break and some rest, but that wasn't good for my weight. For the last 9 months I've been trying to walk daily, but health problems and laziness at times have be challenging. Finally yesterday I over-walked my daily goal by 3K steps and went over 10K. I am so proud of myself and I'm going to keep working until that 10K is my daily average!37

I took my new mountain bike out for the second time this year and already hit two PR's. One for longest ride at 20.57 miles and another for an 846' elevation gain. This is going to be a fun fit summer. The best part is my butt doesn't hurt after 3 hours in the saddle. Normally it takes me a few short rides to break in my backside. These glutes must be tougher than my butt fat.24

I have a few:
1. Went to an indoor waterpark this weekend with the family. Was first pleased that I had the energy to run around with my kids and go on all the rides they wanted me to (and there was a LOT of walking). Also was relieved to see that most slides had a weight limit that last year at this time I would have exceeded. I would have been so embaressed to have to walk down without my family because I would have been too big. Didn't have to worry about it at all though!
2. Because of this long weekend away and some other work things last week I went on a diet break for the last week and a half. Was up 6 pounds this morning but I know that most of that is water weight that will be gone shortly. Also got right back on the horse today. Many times in the past my short break would have turned into a LONG break and I would have just ignored the scale. I am so much more at piece with my lifestyle - this is my new "normal."
3. I have a pair of pants that have been my half-way goal for some time. I am proud to say that I have now worn them several times and get many compliments on them!26 -
not sure it's a victory but I almost lost my pants at work today! they're too big the weight of my id badge was pulling them down and my hands were full of files and computers and other stuff from a meeting!!!!26

finished my first day of logging under my calorie allowance - very happy!35

Went shopping for a trip to Florida this weekend and ended up buying a 34" waist swimsuit, a size large shirt, and a "slim fit" shirt for the first time.26

So when I'm not on here reading the boards or at my boring desk job, I sing opera and classical music in my area. I was rushing to a concert Saturday evening and I had to deal with some partner issues beforehand, and a minor house emergency, and ended up rushing out of the apartment without my suit jacket. Sadly, I was so distracted by the partner *kitten* and the emergency that I didn't even NOTICE my suit jacket was not in the car until I was almost to the venue. Well, I managed to find a Men's Wearhouse and dashed in, barking my size at the terrified teenager behind the counter, and waited impatiently while he found a black jacket. He helped me into it and then said, "ummm, that's way too big on you, let me bring a 54. I scoffed as this was two sizes down from my previous size, which was already many sizes down from my biggest. He brings back a 54 and it fits PERFECTLY. I was shocked.
Moral of the story: Fight with your partner before a gig so you're forced to buy a jacket that fits.59 -
At the end of my workout I do 10 minutes of intense cardio. I went from 9 km/h on the treadmill to 10 km/h and I feel like I can keep pushing. Going to try 10.5 km/h today!21

Great story! Be warned . . . nobody trusts a skinny opera singer.17 -
The biggest pair of jeans I have is from my in between weight of 170. I haven't been able to wear them since I was 2 months pregnant last August and I just wore them again for the first time for my husbands birthday. I have jeans for every weight below 170. The next time I will buy new jeans is once I get below 139 (my lowest weight since puberty)18

Before I started week 4 of C25K I had myself completely psyched out about the 5 minute intervals. I even decided that so long as I ran 3 minutes out of the 5 I would call it a victory. It would just take some extra days before I could build up to 5.
But last night I had my first attempt at day 1 and I finished the whole thing. I had to push to keep going, but by the time the app said I was done, I realized my breathing was under control and my muscles/joints felt fine. It really is a mental game.29 -
I put on a pair of capris this morning that I bought last fall because I needed something other than jeans to wear casually. Well I don't think I'll be wearing them very much this year. Thank goodness that they're drawstring waist as otherwise they would be around my ankles. I also have a mean case of saggy butt happening right now.24

Stopped weighing and logging my food, and managed to maintain my weight within a two pound range for six months. Anyway, back to logging now to lose a bit more.46

I was finishing up the laundry and managed to drop a sock behind the middle dryer in a row of three. Without much thought or effort, I hoisted myself up on the dryer (twice) and rescued my socks and two others. It's unlikely I could have managed that without much difficulty, and probably harm to myself and the dryer, until recently.25

Still early days on my lifestyle change... I started January this year, I had no energy at all when I first started and could only do 3 minutes on my stationary bike.... today I logged a shocking total of 80 minutes and still felt like I could do more... only thing that stopped me was a very numb bottom lol, its very inspiring reading through everyone's NSV's38

I discovered today that when things go wrong, you can always try again tomorrow/next time. Until today I hadn't really taken this on board, and used to get quite irritated when things went awry.
So what happened today to change my attitude? It's a long story . . .
We've had really nice weather throughout April in my part of England, which is quite unusual. Today it got cold. Very cold. The weather forecast last night said that there'd be a frost this morning, with sub-zero temperatures. So I decided to skip cycling to the gym, and to actually skip the gym altogether - I'd been yesterday so felt it was okay to skip today. I usually have a bit of a cycle ride on the way home, just because I can (and I like to cycle). So I missed that as well but my thoughts were that as I had all day, I could make it up later.
Went for a quick walk with the children earlier, noted it was a bit blustery and a bit cold but felt that it was nothing I couldn't deal with on the bike.
Went for my cycle ride early this afternoon. The bike was going really well (after the tribulations of the weekend) so I was happy with that. But the wind was another matter entirely. At one point I'd gone up a hill, turned at a junction and hit a wall of resistance. Bottom gear, peddling like a mad thing and making very little progress. So, I decided to take the quick route home and try again later, in the hopes that the wind would have died down a bit.
The journey home was not pleasant It got cold and it got colder. The sky got darker and then the rain started. I don't like cycling in wind, rain and cold (I can do any combination of two, but not all three together). But I was stuck, six miles from home, in the cold, wind and rain and no choice other than to keep going. I also found out the the headwind I thought I'd hit wasn't quite a headwind as I cycled straight into it. I went even slower after that . . . oh and I had a free massage/facial on the way home as the rain turned into hail. So I got soaked as well.
Eventually got home, in bright sunshine! It was still cold but the skies were blue. Still blustery but sunny. So, as I still had time (and I'd only done 12 miles, not the 30+ I'd planned for) I decided to change my wet clothes, have a quick drink and head out again.
Had my drink, got kitted up, went to get the bike and found it was snowing! SNOW. In Southern England. In April. Virtually unheard of. And it just kept going. It turned to hail. And then sleet. By the time it had eased off, I'd run out of time, so I abandoned my plans but thought that I might be able to get out again this evening, being as the evenings are so much lighter now, after I'd dropped my son off at Cadets.
Walked my son to Cadets, because it was warmish and sunny. It's a three mile walk there and back, so I'd be back in time to get out for a bit on the bike. We walked fast (just to see how quickly we could walk there - it took just under 30 minutes; last time we walked it took 40 minutes). On the way, my son said that the clouds looked rather black . . .
And sure enough, fifteen minutes from home, the rain started. It came down in bucket-loads. Then it got very cold and the hail started, and was still going by the time I got home. I was soaked, pummelled (another free masage/facial) and very cold.
It looked like it was set in for the evening, so I had to abandon my plans for a cycle ride. The reason I was so keen to get out for another cycle ride is that I was trying to reach 750 miles cycled during April, and I'm only up to 490.5. So I have five days to complete 259.5 miles. That's an average of 51.9 miles a day. It's not happening. But, it doesn't really matter. I can (maybe) get out for a cycle ride tomorrow and each day for the rest of April and see where I get to. I can try again to hit an average 25 miles/day in May (aiming for 775 miles for the month). I'll just keep trying and eventually I'll get there. I know that this is possible, as last September I cycled 800 miles over the month.
The forecast for tomorrow is cold and a bit windy with rain from late afternoon. So I'm planning to go out in the morning Well wrapped up and with a waterproof jacket.19 -
I got the results from my blood work. Cholesterol levels all in the good ranges and an A1C of 5.7!42

The seasonal aisle at my Walgreen's has all Easter candy marked down to 25 cents. I walked the full length, and didn't scrape the entire aisle in my basket. In fact, I just picked up my prescription and left. Nothing seemed worth the calories.34

Put on my favorite white capris today and they were too big. Looked for a belt and all my belts are too big! Time to clean out the closet.26

Attempted C25k again today. Still didnt get to finish as the hubs had a meeting to go to. Getting a jogging stroller Thursday, so hoping that helps. I felt better about it this time. And I came home and did a 30 min Turbo Jam video Instead.23

Got out of the shower and looked in the mirror and...wow, hotness! My husband was correct - I do look amazing! I normally think I look good, but my latest fitness efforts (coming out of my winter hibernation) seem to be paying off big time. I love the combo of distance running, weight training and extra protein! It does wonderful things for my body type...
Are you eating at maintenance?? I'm still debating what my next move will be.... curently eating at maintenance now, getting my cardio/weight training in as well.... definitely sculpted (sculpting) a nice shape, just need this extra fat off of my arms! It's crazy that this is my
stubborn area whereas it's the thighs/hips for most women!

Hubby and I went on a walk around the park and decided to go on the seesaw. We ended up having a BLAST since we are actually close in size now. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! He still weighs less than me but we made it work old me would've been too self conscious to even sit on a seesaw!40

I ran for an hour straight!!!!
I'm 70 days away from starting C25K.
The body is an amazing thing!!
I still have about 2 more miles before I'm ready for a 10K. (My goal distance.)
I think I'll do a 10K pacer app and try to squeeze all 6.2 miles into an hour.
Then onto a half marathon.40 -
Anyone else do Les Mills Body Combat classes?
The new release includes huge numbers of burpees.
The first time our instructor took us through it she was the only one still moving by the end of the track. TBH I didn't do any "I don't do burpees" was my initial response and I went straight to the lower option of squatting.
I went away and thought that was a bit poor, really, so I decided to practice at home! This week, in class, I kept moving through the whole track and did A SERIOUS LOT of burpees. Didn't have time to look around but think there were not many others still on it at the end.
NSV for sure --- Rocking being one of the strongest in the class!35 -

I love burpees. I seem to be the only one in my class that feels that way though. >.<8 -
Not really a victory, but just an amazing thing that I don't think has ever happened in my 6 year history on MFP: today I came within one point of meeting all of my macro targets: Over 1 on protein, under 1 on carbs and fat. Not that it really matters, but it just hasn't ever magically worked out before. I'm always significantly over or under on something! Wow!
