Single Leg Romanian Deadlift and Foot Arch Pain

Options
I'm following NRoL4W. I started Stage 3 yesterday. One of the workouts was the Single Leg Romanian Deadlift. I have naturally high arches and wear supports. After trying to complete the SL RDs my arches HURT. I couldn't complete the 3rd set due to arch pain. Do I need to be wearing flat, firm shoes? Or was it something with form? Or is there an alternative exercise?

Thanks in advance!

Have you done any RDLs at all? I would probably just go with regular two legged RDLs for now. You can do them with dumbbells, kettlebells, or a barbell.

No, I've only done deadlifts and deadlifts from boxes. None of the Romanian variations. Thank you for the suggestion!

Single leg work can be fatiguing to the muscles of your feet. Shoes probably won't change much. Gradually your feet will get stronger. You could try holding onto a squat rack with one of your hands as you perform the exercise. This will reduce the need for stability until your body adjusts to the exercise.
