Is it bad to eat late at night?

Say I have a really busy day and cannot eat all my calories before 9 p.m. Is it bad to eat later at night even if I haven't consumed all my calories, or is it ok? I've read that you shouldn't eat after 7 p.m. for example. Thoughts?

If it doesn't bother you sleep-wise or digestion-wise, it's fine.

If it doesn't interfere with your sleep, or cause heartburn for you, there is no problem with eating as late as you want. I often will eat right up until bed, sometimes in bed, still losing weight. No problem.

Only if you're a gremlin and it's after midnight.

Anyway, no OP, there isn't a problem eating after 7 for most people. Some may have issues sleeping on a full stomach such as GERD, and some may have a tendency to binge at night. Once a week I eat dinner around 10 PM, go to bed an hour later, and have no issues.

If we eat dinner at 6.30 pm, do we suddenly gain weight when daylight savings starts and the clocks move forward an hour?

If we fly west in a plane, do we suddenly gain weight because we're eating in a different, later time zone?

No. No, the time doesn't affect how you burn energy. The body burns energy 24/7.

As others have said, the only reason to not eat late is if it disturbs your sleep. I tend to eat late because I work late and still want to cook a nice meal when I get home.

You don't brush your teeth between finishing eating and going to sleep?
