Ok so need some advice here… before last week, I was able to get up really early to do my workouts… whether the peloton or weights. My sleep patterns was sleeping at 10pm and waking up at either 4:30 or 5am. Last week I had off the entire week and was on the Peloton the entire week for each live class. This week however has been a struggle. I mean im sleeping at the same time but cant get out of bed and wanting to sleep more and finally waking up at 6am. Could it be my body is just exhausted? I was thinking maybe I should switch the times I workout from the early morning to the evenings. The only thing that worries me is being wired at night and not being able to sleep til later. Your thoughts and suggestions?

Well considering 10-6 would be the recommended sleep amount(which varies from person to person) I wouldn't worry about it.

If I'm on day shift I workout right after work.
If I'm on night shift I workout right before work.

Sleep is one of the most important factors, don't overlook it. If your body is saying it needs more, listen to it.

The advice we get is to do no exercise within 2 hours of bedtime.

    What's sex?

Whatever you feel is best that fits in your schedule. If your new to working out in the morning, it does take time to adjust a bit. Have some pre work out drink or coffee. It helps me.

I have had no problems mixing it up depending on how I feel in the mornings. I try as hard as possible to keep it consistent and go at 7am every day, but there are days I'd rather go after my lectures are done around 3pm. Feel free to go at night for a week or two and then try switching back and see if your morning motivation returns.

I prefer to get up very early, work out, then shower, then eat breakfast, then get ready and leave for work. It takes some getting used to but once you do, it's nice, because it's done for the day and you can work and relax after that and won't get rushed with every day life crap. When I tried to work out after work I wanted to do it before I ate dinner because working out on a full stomach was a pain and slowed me down. But the family always needed something, or there were trips to the store, or kids were hungry, hurry up dad.. etc. etc. Nobody but me is awake at 5am so I get it done without distraction. I also sleep better at night now.

I workout at night, usually right before showering and going to bed, and it doesn't cause me to have any issues sleeping - in fact, it usually seems to help me fall asleep immediately and sleep well.

Your body may simply need more recovery in the form of extra sleep. If you want to get up earlier you could try going to bed a bit earlier and seeing if that helps, assuming that's even an option given your schedule.

I used to lift first thing in the morning, before work. Now, I usually lift after work (current gym has no showers). I've noticed no real difference in my ability to sleep.

I am a morning workout person. I woke up at 2:30 this morning and my wife said "no its too early to run". So I lay there until 4:30 and hit the road. I haven't set an alarm in three or four years now. 9:30 is my prefered bedtime and my fitbit says I average between 5 and 6 hours a night.

I used to do both, either early in the morning for work or after work. I would be done working out either by 7 am or 7 pm. Whatever works best for you honestly the important thing is you're working out. Maybe switch it up for a while. Some people are just morning people, or have too much to do when they get off work so do it in the morning to get it out of the way. Others know they don't get motivated for anything until after noon. I don't think one is better than the other.

I work out after 8pm during the week due to my work schedule. I'd go right after work, but I need to go home and let the dogs out so while I'm there I eat dinner and let it settle. I've always been a late nighter in the first place, so getting home after 10pm doesn't bother me. I only need about 6-7 hours of sleep and the idea of getting up before 5am is just NOT appealing to me in the least.

Always hit it at 5AM heavy cardio and weights and then try to do 20 min or so light cardio after work. Morning person and cannot do later workouts just dead

The best advice is to do what works for you to where you will actually DO the work. For me it varies, I dont hold myself to a strict schedule I just have a requirement to do the workout that day. If the morning ends up not working because I needed extra sleep then it's just required to get it done as soon as I get home from work. Keep it close to the end of the work day so you can sleep well, I can't workout after 7pm and still get to sleep well. But that's just my body.

A long while ago I was hitting the gym at 4:30 every morning rain or shine tired or not and I burned out so bad I quit working out all together. That was a mistake I've learned from for sure but the key isn't when you workout, just that you do.
