Can't lose a single pound

Hi I have been working out in a cycling class 3x per week and yoga 2x per week and cannot manage to lose a single pound since January. I have been managing my eating habits, only eating Whole Foods, and cut out takeout food and eating out entirely since January. I also drink minimum 64 ounces of water per day. I recently had my Mirena removed about a week ago to see if the hormones were causing an issue. Can anyone tell me what gives?

Are you eating at a calorie deficit? Eating whole foods doesn't matter, eating at a deficit does.

^ What they said. Working out makes no difference if you're eating too much of any kind of food.

What are your current stats? Height/current weight/goal weight? Are you weighing all solid foods with a food scale (not cups or eyeballing?)

The only thing that matters for weight loss is a calorie deficit. If you aren't losing, most likely you aren't in one.

I even do the fast metabolism diet sometimes, since it worked great for me last year. However, this year I didn't lose a single pound on it even though I was eating exactly as I did on it last year

I'm 5 foot 5, 21 years old, 159 pounds. I weigh and track absolutely everything I eat and eat 1200 calories on days I don't exercise and then add to that on days I do, depending on how much the app tells me to eat.

no such thing as a fast metabolism diet..

metabolism = metabolism it is not fast, slow, or in need of a "re-booting"

Take these people's advice. I struggled on my own, then made the adjustments they recommended and it made a huge difference!

Can you give some examples of the amount of calories you eat on exercise days?

Read through this chart, and adjust the things you aren't currently doing.

One of the factors for losing weight is calories in. That requires accurate logging of every bite, taste, lick that goes in your mouth. Do you weigh solids & semi-solids, do you use a measuring cup for liquids? Check your database selections there are lots of incorrect & personal entries that will be wrong.

The other factor for losing weight is calories out. Calorie burns are guesstimates, your stated activity level is also a range. It could be your calorie burns are inflated and you are actually eating at maintenance.

There are mistakes that people commonly make that cause them to not lose weight that we might be able to spot if you change your Diary Sharing settings to Public: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

I would recommend meeting with a dietitian. Your doctor's office may have one that you can see. This helped me in losing weight. He/She will be able to look at your food journals and guide you. I had one dietitian tell me I wasn't eating enough during the day. I also learned to eat protein with my carbs for a snack.

    Good luck.

I always understand it as a process that burns, converts, etc. at different rates depending on one's levels of activities.

Don't we speed up our muscles, heart, etc (eg in workout) requiring more fuel and faster mechanism, thus speed up this process?

you are conflating activity with metabolism..

metabolism just is; activity will determine if it ramps up or down

Thanks! Please discontinue replying, I have learned from the replies and as I am a student, I do not have time to keep up with the conversation and would like to not get notifications. Thank you for your help!
